Avengers: Endgame Writer Explains Why The Winter Soldier Could Not Be The Next Captain America

>Mackie explained, “And, with the idea of being a black man and becoming Captain America, it’s been a daunting task because I think, at this day and age in America, I think we are open-minded to the idea of having my face represent us, as a country.” He added, “And my race represent us as a country because we’re truly a melting pot. So there is no distinctive look or feel or design of an American. We’re all Americans.” Mackie concluded, “So, to be Captain America, I want my Captain America to represent everybody. Not just a specific group of people.”

I'm mad grrrrr...

Was that good enough OP? did I sate your hunger for outrage?

Winter Soldier was a suspected terrorist for decades, regardless of him being innocent I think the public would accept a black war hero before him

Steve was a suspected terrorist too

That's fuckin retarded ,it's gonna be forced just like it was in the comics

By Ross, I doubt all that many other people cared much.

>>Article explains:
- Towards the end of the film, Markus was asked if they had always intended for Sam Wilson to receive Captain America’s shield or if they had considered Bucky as well.

Markus responded, “Considered, but quickly dropped.”

He then explained why Bucky Barnes would not be appropriate to become the next Captain America.

Markus stated, “Captain America is about the idealism, what we could be if we were better. Sam is that. Bucky is something else entirely.”

>>Baitposter instead tries to farm outrage by quoting Mackie out of context

Fuck off.

> I want my Captain America to represent everybody. Not just a specific group of people.”

The problem with this argument is its implying that a white Cap can't represent non white Americans which itself is fucking racist.

Don't take the bait. The reason Bucky isn't suitable to be Cap yet is that he is an international criminal who assassinated a bunch of people including Howard Stark. He isn't squeaky clean enough for the role yet.

Isn't Falcon becoming or is Cap in the comics? (Its been a while)

but helping a criminal and joining a terrorist organization is perfectly fine

Black Lives Matter isn't a terrorist organization no matter how many times you imply it is

>I want my Captain America to represent everybody. Not just a specific group of people.
But black people are a specific group of people. Its such a shit argument. Maybe if he was half black he'd have a point but no, he doesn't represent "a melting pot".

They're not. They're just a really shitty protest movement.
They're an embarrassment compared to earlier black rights groups.

Yeah Bucky had it in the comics right before Falcon did, they basically just skipped over that because it didn't fit an agenda.

Steve was a terrorist

yeah and it kind of devalues Falcon as a character

TLDR: PC points.

People at large didn't care. He was still shown in school videos and at most they'd say "Is he a criminal now or sumthing?" and shrug it off.
Winter Soldier blew up the fucking King of Wakanda. Did he really? Who cares, it's what the media said for weeks.

MCU is dead anyway

this shows a complete lack of understanding with the characters
there is a genuine argument to be made why Cap would choose Sam over Bucky for this role, but making it all about I'm a black guy! is doing a disservice for all characters involved and the audience

I just think its dumb, and implies "The Falcon" wasn't a cool enough mantle. It's not so much that I prefer Bucky, it's more about asking why Sam needs to take the name to begin with. I like Falcon, he has his own thing going, and his own legacy. The best way to honor Cap is to follow his example, and not BE him

That attack was also on the UN, I don’t remember Sam ever doing anything to tarnish his name like that. Of course Bucky isn’t going to wield the shield, even he knows that his hands are too bloody with innocent lives to hold it.

The very idea that you need to be represented by your race runs absolutely contrary to the idea of melting pots and color-blind equality. It's an idea so stupid that only (secretly racist) Liberals could ever come up with it. In order to really have something like that, you'd need a person of literally every ethnicity in the US, or the world. The ultimate mutt.

But Captain Falcon is already taken, and American Falcon sounds like a budget American Eagle brand.

We've never been a "melting pot".

HIlariously attempt to justify this statement, please. I need a laugh.

>Captain America is about the idealism, what we could be if we were better. Sam is that
Is Sam really about idealism? The only I know about him is that he seems to be a discount Hawkman with guns.
Does he actually have a good character in the comics? Because there sure as shit isn't anything particularly interesting about him from the movies. Christ, he doesn't even have his own movie. Even Bigtits McGingerhead got her own movie and she's boring as fuck.

Sure drunk midget

>DUDE lets choose the 100% regular human in a costume lol, not the guy with cybernetic limbs who can throw the shield harder than the original captain lol
big oof
putting the race thing aside that just don't make no sense

Steve is also a mass murder than killed innocent space aliens that came to Earth seeking asylum.

>Liberals
you had me until you used this buzzword faggotry

He is more like a discount Archangel-Vulture hybrid.

Let Sam be Captain America. Let Bucky be Captain Puerto Rico.

No kid will ever claim Falcon is their favorite hero. Falcon is lame. Even Mackie himself knows this despite refusing to admit it.
