Why did this movie become a normie meme?

Literally a Yas Forums post
Everything becomes a "normie" meme because people on here are in fact normies.
shrek meme has originated from Yas Forums not Yas Forums.
Yeah it was probably this even though he was very likely to have become a meme eventually
Because kids who grew up watching the movie decided to make YouTube videos once they learned how to use Vegas.
Also Smash Mouth sucks.
Because it's good and super popular, autistic fuck.
Interact with people
Shrek 2 is better. I literally watch it once a month. Last time I saw Shrek 1 was for the collab and that was 80 percent live action.
>normie meme?
You implying shrek was this underground thing before memes?
1 is objectively better. 2 is just Shark Tale with fairytale characters
1 is better, it's a kino brotrip
2 is OK, but it feels like a Kardashians late night tv drama
it was a popular movie with wacky characters and nostalgic value
Is that what you saw or is that what you assume everyone saw
Definitely. Too much cliched talking, story feels straight out of Meet the Parents
Normie is a normie meme, normie.
Not when on the early days when first appeared. Yas Forums was still a cesspit then. Nowadays, especially with the quarantine flooding in people with too much free time, is when Yas Forums interacts with other normie sites more often.
Also Neil Cicierega remix

I think Neil was just part of the snowball effect
I still consider the first film, as well as Frozen, to be some of the best non Pixar CG animated films ever. The sequels can suck it tho
cursed.
Unpopular opinion : Shark Tale was a better film than Shrek 2. Even back in 2004, i enjoyed the former more
Shrek 1 is better overall, but Shrek 2's 'I need a hero' scene is better than anything in Shrek 1
Aside from the copypasta spreading around, Shrek was emblematic of early 2000s animation and its whole trajectory from "Satire of everything Disney represented in the 90s complete with Michael Eisner villain named Fuckwad in a kid friendly way" to getting overmilked for everything it was worth in exactly the same fashion as a Disney movie kinda turned Shrek into something as easily enjoyed ironically as Garfield or Sonic.
The cgi aged like milk and also because all the bad imitators inspired by it.
Sonic does have some high points, believe it or not. Shrek's only real standout is the first film. None of the sequels, spin offs, holiday specials and other stuff reach the quality from 1
Care to name some of those bad imitators ?
Chicken little
Yeah, that's true, yet it's still no reason to call it better than 1. Since that scene happens really late into the film, most people left the cinema with such good aftertaste that they started to say it was a better film as a whole.
Happily Never after, Igor, Planet 51, etc
There was also that "shrek is dreck" meme
Technically, the first Shrek imitator was Shark Tale, but i can let it slide, since it was made by the same company and even director. Stuff from other studios like Robots or Chicken Little don't have that excuse
