To add to this, getting banned meant that you couldnt even VIEW the boards, but nowadays you have to cater to social media addicts and more eyes clicking through threads means more ad revenue. though that particular aspect of being banned was changed by moot sometime before he fled.

Lmao who is going to wait 3 days to appeal a ban, and considering the so called appeal is a one-way snail mail to the mod who gave the ban, wait around to have it rejected a few days later? For most people, all they need to do is clear cookies and reset their modem or go in airplane mode. And of course they still rely on (((IRC))) for direct communication (assuming they don't get butthurt and ban you from their empty channel as well). If its one thing this site has been in dire need of is a complete rework of the ban and appeal infrastructure, or do away with it entirely and just except that the only way to combat disruptive users is to just delete their autistic shit as quickly as possible.
