Oh boy a Maus thread. Man I remember when even Yas Forums could have threads thread after thread discussing Band of Brothers without any stormfaggotry.

Mmm, ah yes, Indubitably, I say good sir, this made me fix my monocle after the good chuckle I had. It really makes me want to drink some red wine whilst smoking my pipe....

(I didn't read a word of this)

What?

Literally the first sentence of the article references "the Maus fallacy" which Yas Forums will seize on as a chance to proselytize their conspiracy theories.

elaborate further

I dont feel like things have gotten any better over the decades.

this article's entire rant is just rick and morty iq posting except over maus. Fuck maus and the perpetual circlejerk around it.

Maus made comics into a more serious medium. It created the "graphic novel". This writer guy calls that a fallacy. Anyway Yas Forums chimps out at any reference to the holocaust.

As no one remembers:

>Commie meme
>Doesn't read
>Doesn't eat either

Oh I remember. I remember Yas Forums reading the title and thinking "this must be the redpill thread!"

Actually, I decided to read it, and now I have to ask? What was the point? Does OP want us to discuss a review of Maus? A review of the review of Maus? Or does he want us not to discuss anything to do with Yas Forums and rather discuss the trickery of the media? My flippant attitude originally came because I saw the New Yorker Mascot attached to the stupid article, with nothing else said. After reading the article, I'm still in the dark.

As for me being a "commie", sorry bud, I'm pro capitalism; swing and a miss there. I just like that smug ass image, which I assume you don't think is fat because you're being defensive. Go get some exercise.

Shut up commie.

>You're a Commie!
>No, I'm not
>Y-Yes you are C-C-Commie!
What is this childish shit? Does your mum know you're on the computer talking to strangers?

Explain this article to me. As you would a child

>Guy writes a glowing review of Maus with his ignorant knowledge of Comics
>Another Guy writes an article basically saying he entire review was shit
>So shit it actually made the situation worse for the comic industry
>Goes on to theorise it was a sneaky tactic of the media to have them focus only on Maus, and not look at other comics

Something a bit like that

>noooooooo you can't just make my children's media about men in spandex fighting each other into an art form aaaaaaaaa

TCJ good, the rest bad

the average poster on this board shares the views of the reviewer. Yas Forums is by far the arts-board with the least understanding of its chosen medium. below even Yas Forums

people have been making serious comics since the days of early newspaper strips. A Contract with God was published before Maus and there are examples dating back to the 1800s.

So throwing the industry under the bus, to suck off Maus.

Yeah, I'd say the New Yorker review was probably shit, but saying it's an attempt by the lame stream media to undermine comics is a bit much. Definitely a good cause for the argument that only those passionate about said medium should review these things though; this argument has been had quite a few times in regards to games, but I've never admittedly seen it for other things such as film, when really it should be the case. Siskel and Ebert were definitely Film lovers.

>lame stream media

Shouldn't you be injecting detergent.

Look, I know it's hard to get sarcasm through text, but given I was talking about someone else's words, the context couldn't have been more obvious. Sorry buddy, you haven't got the intellect to be anything more than a burger flipper, hope you like McDonalds.

I agree. There were a ton of serious comics.
Even if was alot of sci-fi, fantasy or just novel adaptations/inspirations.

Bullshit, the average Yas Forums user knows much more about comics than this guy.

Hell, is a in-depth historical (or otherwise) knowledge needed to simply talk about cartoons and comics? Maybe some of us simply enjoy the content and don't want to write a thesis or dissertation on every thing we enjoy.
