Why is it soooooo boring?
Why is it soooooo boring?
Too much school shit, not enough world-building.
>The main three character usually go on their own adventures instead of actually interacting
>Luz can go home at any time getting rid of any tension the show would have had
>Bad Writing
>Luz is an idiot and the view can't feel sympathy for her stupidity.
>Mediocre voice acting
>The show is heavily inspired and likes taking stuff from anime, which would be bad if the show was actually good but since it sucks it causes the view to just want to go an watch the shows that are being referenced.
>This is one of the only times that a 11 minute time slot would work better than 22 minute one.
Because it rushes through everything
>Luz jumps from being taught by Eda to going to magical school out of nowhere
>Luz and Amity become bffs extremely quickly
>Edas curse mystery is set up way too early and there are few clues to make any interesting theory out of (her sister probably did it)
>Luz learns her second magical spell not long after her first one and after just one day of training
>this is also after setting up you need a magical heart, but I guess that doesn't matter anymore
>Eda, Luz, and King get along well instantly. They don't have to spend time getting along with one another because they are friends from the get-go
It wants to have everything at once and doesn't care about properly setting up anything.
absolutely this.
also the comedy is terrible
>world-building
I'd rather get shot then have more world building, whenever this crowd tries that it makes the show worse.
Owl House would have been x10 better if they had followed a similar plot to FMA.
Well, I mean less in creating "Deep Lore" and more in exploring the Boiling Isles and well, the basic premise of being apprentice to an outlaw witch and being a human who loves fantasy living in a fantasy world. That's a great idea (There's great comedy potential with Luz regarding everything with awe and wonder when it's actually hellish and frightening), but when 90% of the focus is on school hijinks it' feels wasted.
Too many women in charge of the show.
There could definitely be more to the Isles beyond the vague "anything is possible" angle a lot of fantasy shows use. The supporting characters are also really weak. The fucking principal was more interesting than Gus, Willow, and the monster hunters combined.
