well?
Well?
It's neither
4/10 troll post critics. might have clicked on the article if this was Facebook
If this was a 2001 article maybe it wouldn't be laughable
Dreamworks was abetter animation studio then Pixar was the last decade and it pisses me off that pixar are getting way to much acclaim they don't deserve just because of their brand name.
I own all the Ghibli films on Blu Ray, and I'd still say Pixar matches up well against them. Outside of Spirited Away, there's a terrible case of sameface errywhere, you are bludgeoned with environmentalism (which I actually support), and everyone seems mildly autistic (Japan, I know). Japan cannot into humor except on the crassest level.
Toy Story hands down
Are you seeing a Totoro 3 , or a Chihiro 5?
No ?
there is your answer ...
No, you are seeing Miyazaki's understudies making films that completely lack energy.
I'd totally watch Totoro 3 over Earthsea.
Ghibli didn't get so generic I wouldn't even pirate their movies, so them.
So you haven't seen any Ghibli in the last 15 years...
muh air plane constructor did nothing wrong: the movie
Ghibli movies are all about Remorse.
Remorse for warmongering.
Remorse for raping the environment.
Remorse for raping their neig-actually Japan can't officially express remorse for that one.
It's not exactly entertainment as much as a nation trying to reach catharsis while dying off from autism.
Both have solid libraries but:
There's no Pixar film as good as Princess Mononoke.
There's no Ghibli film as bad as Ralph Breaks the Internet.
Absolutely no one pirated that film.
>Ralph Breaks the Internet
not Pixar
>There's no Pixar film as good as Princess Mononoke.
The Incredibles
>There's no Ghibli film as bad as Ralph Breaks the Internet.
Tales from Earthsea
i did
If I was locked in a small chamber and forced to dwell there for eternity with nothing but a TV and some movies, Ghibli would stave off my mental degradation into a wraith for an exponentially longer time than Pixar. Actually, if I wanted to prolong my sanity I'd probably avoid watching Pixar at all except for Finding Nemo, and maybe The Incredibles.
What I'm saying is that 3D animation is a bad medium.
They do actually. They show a lot of public remorse, because larping remorse is easy while you are laughing your ass inside for not having a single war crime court or any reparations to pay for the shit Unit 731 did and got immunity and employment by Amerisharts for.
Ghibli for me
Pixar isn't even the best 3D animation studio, this meme needs to die. What was the last actually great film Pixar made even? I legitimately can't even remember what's Pixar vs Disney animation at this point. They're way past their prime.
Out of the two Ghibli no contest.
>there's a terrible case of sameface errywhere
Well, that's the anime industry in general, though I personally think at least ghibli films have a distinctive look among their anime peers. That said, pixar films, or rather 3d animated films, suffer from same face to some degree as well. They've all got this perfectly spherical eyed look that seems to mesh with every other studio; I honestly couldn't tell the difference between dreamworks, pixar, modern disney, and whatever else, if I were going by style alone.
That said, back to OP, Pixar is the winner. Ghibli made fantastic films, but pixar made films that pushed the medium in an all new direction and practically created the modern animation scene (for better or worse).
It's Laika you fucking plebs
Saloon beat the shit out of both
Ghibli never makes sequels for cashgrab
Dreamworks is way too much of a mixed bag to be #1. I think they have things in their library that are contenders for best animated film, and plenty of others which while not the best ever are still good, enjoyable movies.
But they also cursed us with Shark Tale, Monsters vs Aliens, and Bee Movie. For every one or two great films they make, they follow it with a piece of trash or something completely forgetable.
Can't we like them both?
Pixar hasn't innovated in at least 20 years, they're shit
t. Retard
I agree with you on this.
I own most of Ghibli and Pixar films on blu ray.
Ghibli gets the edge, despite their flaws.
Looking at older Pixar films, and older Ghibli films, Ghibli easily ages better with visuals.
Looking at character design, Pixar is much more diverse, and it's storytelling takes more risks.
Both studios have played it save in the past 8 years though, neither are the creative powerhouse that they used to be.
Yes, but that's not even remotely what the topic of this thread is.
Ah fuck, you're right. Wires got crossed.
Pretend I said one of the Cars or Good Dinosaur instead.
Ghibli films are too repetitive. Same style of dialogue, same human designs, same enviromental and pacifist themes, and same coming of age plots. I also feel like the way the characters move never comes alive, it's too choppy.
