Mario and Luigi take care of a typical rescue plot in the first act, but then during the face off against Bowser, a terrifying entity threatens to erase Mario as both a character and a series forever, prompting them to travel between multiple points of game history and spinoffs. Many cameos and jokes are abound. Subplot about family and friends getting connected via Mario games, how language and age are irrelevant to enjoying Mario. No celebrity voices, but the family can be played by actors. Treat it like a celebration of the series, Bowser can contemplate betrayal but changes his mind when he sees a father and son bonding over Mario like he does with his, and Peach gets to be part of the cast following act 1. Maybe include a big war scene featuring all the obscure chars and spinoff stuff like Ready Player One except thematically consistent.

Why are you so scared of Illumination? It's not like Nintendo aren't watching their progress like a hawk for instance remember the rabbids crossover? Alright so the composer for that used the mario death jingle but his version was 1 note off the actual because of this Nintendo printed out and sent him the actual sheet music to get him to fix it

This, if anything Nintendo will use the official VAs or sound alikes and it will look like cutscenes from the 3D games. If anything, I'd be pissed if it didn't referece tons of things in the greater Nintendo canon. Like Luigi with a vacuum

Not those anons but I understand why they're against it. Illumination is the most soulless 3D studio and even with Nintendo overseeing everything, there's a chance that the bare minimum is done and you end up with the kind of movie you'd expect from them.

I think there was a Mario movie/cartoon only released in Japan that was really obscure and no one really talks about it because it had more popular counterparts in the west...I wonder how it is.
