Eh, to be fair, it's not a huge retcon since the ending of the first season implied they were still trapped in the game anyways. I still think the ending was a big misstep though. The whole "lol it was a video game" really ruined a lot of the tension and mystery in the first season to the point that a repeated viewing made me enjoy the experience far less. I was genuinely intrigued at the beginning and then thoroughly disappointed.

Checked the show's tag once on Tumblr out of curiosity, and I saw most of the fanwork that gets the small fanbase thriving are literally Adam x Kai (or "Kaidam", as they tagged it)...that rejection is gonna devastate them.

Okay, I'm moderately interested now. Why does this average show gain my attention so much when I know it's not going to deliver in the end? I wanted Skeet to join the main cast a lot since I liked how much nicer he was compared to the black guy and the other chick, and beanie dudes are the best.
Fudanshi. I feel like most people agree the writing kind of sucked but the character designs and fake deepness was enough to string most of us along to the very end. Also fujos have shittaste as Adam is too good for Kai. I hope they don't make that Tumblr pairing canon. The season was likely produced too early to suffer from fandom influence.
