I know. Maybe that'll change now that Faust is dropping out, since she seemed to be the main person behind that decision. I live in hope.

Not that user, but why do you think Faust is behind that "editorial mandate" for lack of a better term.

Hasn't Faust been pretty open about not liking this version of Steve? Also, I don't think there's been an editorial mandate. There's no hard rule not to have Diana and Steve date. It's just that she hasn't made any plans to have that happen which achieves the same result.
When you see their relationship in the comics compared to the show. There's a clear difference in opinion.
