It would be a tonal mess. Alex would try to instill his meta and ironic statement jokes everywhere while Sugar tries to push drama and characters expositionally talking about how they feel and the themes of the show while Daron pushes for a love triangle between the main cast to "create tension" or whatever.
Ultimately, a bunch of fanartists will love it because they just look for cartoons who exist for shippers and don't really watch the show otherwise.

I call Hirsch taking an enormous shit on Nefcy's desk within the first month of production because she rejected his idea that one of the secondary characters is actually an ancient demon lord who lost his memories and whose true purpose in existence is to protect the fabric of reality from collapsing in favour of spending 6 episodes trying to unsuccessfully pair him off with the other female secondary character while the female protagonist watches in horror but can't bring herself to admit to the demon lord that she has feelings for him thereby creating sHiPpiNg DrAmA while Rebecca sits quietly in the corner and draws as Nefcy bursts into uncontrollable tears and Alex does a little jig while admiring the enormous steaming turd and feels a great sense of pride
