Harley Quinn

Where did she go wrong? When did she go from being a fun, interesting character to being a heavily watered down version of Baby Firefly?

When New 52 Suicide Squad dropped, and things like Harley falling on acid and Joker wearing a mask of his own face were seen as "cool".
Margot was just the nail in the coffin.

When she stopped being a hoe for the Joker, her being a pathetic battered housewife was part of the fun

Around 2011 when she stopped being a fun yet tragic sidekick to The Joker and became a batshit insane excuse for female empowerment/anti-hero.

I miss this costume so much bros, her new look is such a downgrade.

This, exactly that.

Started with Arkham Asylum
That hideous fucking design informed every terrible thing done with the character since.

Arkham Asylum's only sin was introducing Harley Quinn to a larger audience and banking hard on her sex appeal. In the aftermath DC decided she was worth pushing as user states in New 52 Suicide Squad

Funny they used that as a base, since most people agree the Arkham Asylum outfit was bad.

Truth be told, the only good costumes Harley's ever had in games were the Arkham Knight and Injustice 2 ones.

If Arkham Asylum just stuck with the jester suit none of this would have ever happened. Butterfly effect man.

the concepts (save for the first two) weren't much better than what we got.

Feminism.

When DC decided that pic related would stop being her main design used.

Successful characters maintain an iconic costume design regardless of medium. Superman, Batman and Spider-Man immediately identifiable whether it is comics, cartoons, vidya or live action. Harley hasn't had a consistent design since they abandoned her jester outfit.

They did better with City and Knight. Especially Knight.

Harley's Arkham Knight outfit (and model) were objectively the best of the series.

She is still as fun as fuck as ever; still the single best character in the DCU by a country mile.

>2011
I think you mean 2000 as she left the joker in 1999.

>I think you mean 2000 as she left the joker in 1999.
No, 2011. She was on and off again for years. That was her character, that no matter what the Joker did, she would keep running back

I can count the number of joker/harley stories on one hand.

It was Arkham, though. And you saying that a bigger audience for her isn't what we're talking about is just obtuse. You know what made Joker dog-shit? Nolan's movie. Bigger newer audience, and it gave ever dumbass writer the will to go "Hey, I can pitch my own version of the Joker!". Same with Harley, but the difference is DC got wise to it, and now it's them doing all the work. All the pushing.

And? That doesn't change Harley's characterization at the time

She she stopped being Joker's girlfriend/stalker and they turned her into a lesbo anti-hero Deadpool ripoff. She's pure shit-tier now.

>She she stopped being Joker's girlfriend/stalker
Like she wasn't that before she went to shit?
Gotham City Sirens was hype as fuck and that was pretty much 1:1 with her path in the new show.
You're on point on the Deadpool thing, though.

PUNCHLINE IS BETTER

Oh, don't worry, she's gonna get ruined too, just you wait.

You really hope that, huh.

Do you honestly trust DC with Punchline?
Do you think they're gonna give good stories/writers for her when Joker War is done?

I'm not prescient.

What i'm saying is i'm afraid they're gonna drop the ball on her.
