Thread question: You have been given carte blanche to license any song for your comic's upcoming tv show. Which ones do you choose for your opening and ending? Post'em! Alt question: Could your MC beat Ellie 1v1?
wtf, are you some kind of savant? I'm over here with crayons and you've got a damn picasso

I hope no one will hate me for this, especially since I promised some other people fanarts too, but here you go. Not really seeing this in your comic but they turned out into a pretty solid "getter trio" in my drawing, heh. I guess I'm still in an artblock but I kinda reach out from it sometimes.
This is some pro shit what the hell. Looking forward to Cosmo Lass. Are you a fan of Gabriel Bá at all? Also, forgot my song. youtube.com/watch?v=Nt9bkgRQbLs

That's so cool. And you get paid for your writing?
Literally the industry I'm trying to break into full-time right now.
In smaller goals, I'm trying to decide if I should add a margin for my panel breaks in my little minicomic.
I don't get paid for my writing, I just have a decent paying job which I use the money towards comic creation as a hobby.
>What's been your career path? Honestly I don't really have one if I'm real with you. I like making comics cause I enjoy creating stories that people can enjoy. I used to roll with people in the indie communities but I became very jaded cause alot of the 'pros' are more petty than you think. The clout chasing really soured me for a while cause I was more in it to just make a comic yet I had people stop talking to me when I revealed I wasn't doing a crowdfunder for Tom N Artie (that was when I made the decision to go webcomic to preserve my sanity as things were getting busy in my life).
How did I get where I am? Frankly it's just been alot of luck and a stubborn drive to keep going. Nothing I made got insanely popular but I became okay with that cause it allowed me to work on alot of stuff. I'm working on three comic projects right now (Tom N Artie, BITE and Cosmo Lass) and trying to break my way into cartoons with a pitch about a Kaiju Family.
I'm just kinda rolling with things. Sorry if this isn't exactly useful advice but direct questions I can answer too.
That's awesome user!! Thank you so much for the pic, and I like your idea of my comic's trio. I hope you get out of your block with some other great drawings.

Thanks, do you have an art/comic hosting site?

I actually wanted to use this thread to ask a thing:
Since this is Yas Forums can there technically be discussions on RHG, Hyun's Dojo, GildedGuy and generally stick fighting or is there some other place i've got to check for?

It's not just about drawing skill, much more important is the ability to motivate yourself and stay motivated, to work in an organized and regular fashion and to be disciplined and keep deadlines.
No, that's actually super helpful! Thank you for taking the time to type it up. Where do you find artists, and if you don't mind me asking, how much does it typically cost? Up until now I've been drawing my own comics, but I have a very limited skill set, and therefore, can't always tell the stories that I want. I have all of these ideas but can only put them out at a snail's pace because I'm nowhere near the level that actual "artist" artists are.

>work in an organized and regular fashion and to be disciplined and keep deadlines. How do I know if I can do those?

I started posting them on tapas some days ago. I'm going to post them in groups of 5 pages. tapas.io/episode/1722472

I usually find my artists on FB groups or art station. Rates usually run between 80 - 120 depending what you want them to do. Honestly I don't haggle on page and cover rates, I usually take it as them thinking they're worth that then it's fine. I did have two times where I upped the price on two cover artists to the usual rate (they wanted 60 but I have them 120).
user don't ever doubt your abilities, you're starting out and it's gonna be a rough as hell path moving up. It's not some race so don't worry bout what everyone else is doing focus on you. Trust me if you keep comparing yourself to everyone else it'll drive you crazy. I still deal with that.
>Nothing I made got insanely popular but I became okay with that cause it allowed me to work on alot of stuff.
Are you me?
My pitch is about a magic shop with a little blue cat. I aimed it to coincide with Animal Crossing due to fandom overlap. This did actually work, so go me and some good advice I got!
That's good to hear BCS. You see all this creative stuff? It really boils down to luck. Being at the right place, right time and the right person sees it. There's nothing wrong with that and it's great you got recognition for your work.
