ATLA was one of the most straightly played Hero’s journeys ever made, it barely deviates from the structure, it follows the same story beats as Star Wars. The main guy hooking up with the main girl is a continuation of those trends, it’s not ATLA’s fault if you were too stupid to recognise the most well worn story structure in history. ATLA’s loved because it’s a classic story told well, not because it’s revolutionary.
