The VIRGIN SatAM Robotnik >dated 90s design >sits around and depends on henchmen >doesn't have shades of character depth or a charming personality >only really is memorable since he's in muh SatAM and was voiced by Jim Cummings (without being expressive enough to play to Cummings' talent) >is scared of an OC (Naugus)
The CHAD Jim Carrey's Eggman >does much of the work himself and shows he can think good on his feet >stylish clothes >has hints of character depth and has a certainly charming personality >doesn't EVER show fear
Man the movie makers did a great job with Eggman unlike SatAM. You see what happens when adaptation makers actually try to respect source material when it comes to at least the big villain?
Bonus: >Jim's Eggman is every bit the genius he claims himself to be, and is responsible for his own creations. SatAM Robotnik is a fraud who didn't build the key to his empire (the roboticizer).
Ethan Stewart
Call him Robotnik, faggot. That's what his name was in the movie, thankfully
Adam Garcia
In SatAM's defense, the source material they had to work with at the time consisted of two Genesis games with a paper-thin story and a licensing bible created by Sega of America. Other than Sonic's 90s attitude, there wasn't really any characterization for DiC to draw from, hence why AoStH and SatAM had such wildly different interpretations of Robotnik.
The film, however, had nearly 30 years of material to draw from and a better understanding of who Robotnik/Eggman is as a character.
Luis Sanders
Thank you!
Andrew Ross
>(without being expressive enough to play to Cummings' talent) dude I hate SatAM too but you can't ignore how darkly hammy Robotnik is in that show
Owen Perry
>You see what happens when adaptation makers actually try to respect source material when it comes to at least the big villain?
Not really, since this is more what happens when the makes of the movie puts more emphasis on the enjoyment of movie goers and not the ramblings of Sonicfags.
Also, letting Jim Carrey be Jim Carrey always help (unless you're on the production)
Adam Sanchez
I liked the film. It was charming and mostly amusing, yet i wish it wasn't so generic and vanilla. If they ever make a sequel, i hope they take more creative risks
Adrian Turner
all robotniks and eggmen may not be made equal, but theyre all great
Oliver Phillips
"Nice egg shaped robots Eggman!"
Juan Clark
i haven't seen the movie yet, anyone wanna stream it together?
Cooper Cruz
Anyone notice that they put the Sonic cartoon Dr. Robotnik theme in the film?
What would you like in a sequel? >Badniks closer to the games >Tails >Eggman makes a reference to his grandfather >Robotnik creates Scratch and Grounder to have someone to talk to >They are made more threatening but still goofy >"If you don't find those Emeralds, you'll end up just like Agent Stone" *Points to a rock blaster by a laser" >Eggman attacks Sonic with Silver/Mecha Sonic controlling it like the truck in the first movie >"How do you like my new friend, Sonic? Courtesy of you quill! And this is just the prototype, wait 'till you see the finished model! >Death Egg >"Now that I have the Emeralds my Death Egg can rise and with it your little world will me mine, and then, Earth!" >Maybe Tom takes out Scratch or Grounder right before the climax, to give him something to do >Final fight Sonic and Tails vs Death Egg Robot >Sonic goes Super after Tails is hurt fighting Eggman, tapping on the power of the Emeralds powering the Death Egg >Mid credits scene Metal Sonic activating >Post credits scene Knuckles finding the crashed Death Egg in Angel Island
Xavier Wood
You're close, but I'm certain at most the sequel will just be Tails hanging with Sonic and Dr. Robotnik builds Mecha/Metal Sonic. Death Egg would be too much in a second film and they're just going to make Star Wars jokes about it.
Jim Carrey will drop out before we get to something like Shadow the Hedgehog or any of that stuff.
Christian Parker
>not the chad AoSTH robotnik S-S-S-S SQUAD ARES-ES-ES-ES-EST HIM
I like how they tied that into Sonic giving everyone nicknames
Zachary Diaz
Where? Those themes don't match up at all.
Josiah Stewart
>doesn't EVER show fear
Just noticed this. Even when he's stranded on an alien planet, Carrey-Robotnik is like 'lol no biggie' and starts laughing at his own jokes. What a chad.
Ifnyou were ro make an "Ultimate Universe" taking stuff from all continuities, how wouls you do it?
Jeremiah Lopez
he's not fat though
Isaac Parker
The inappropriately horny Robotnik was both the highlight and lowlight of the movie for me. I felt genuinely menaced by his presence and it haunted me long after I'd watched Sonic. youtube.com/watch?v=QfeEcCLMtxk Fucking banger song.
John Robinson
I dunno, What I want to know is, how they are going to incorporate Rouge the Bat into these live-action movies if at all, without being called problematic.
