Has this finally eclipsed Alan Moore's Saga of the Swamp Thing?
Immortal Hulk
Not even close. Swamp Thing was a breakthrough for what the medium can do and completely changed that character. This is just standard mainstream comics storytelling with a new Hulk personality. It hasn't even streamlined the character at all, just piled on even more complications to what should be the most straightforward of characters. There's not even much new here that wasn't done by Mantlo or David.
That said, I like the book! But if current mainstream comics weren't such a shitheap, people wouldn't be calling this series genius. It's just an above-average Hulk run.
>completely changed that character
Swamp Thing's character when he was never Alex remained consistent with his character when he was Alex. His origin changed, his powers sort of changed, but in the long term it didn't change who he was.
Give it to me straight; what are the odds Wolverine could appear in this book?
You're absolutely retarded. First things first it's ALEC. The character was changed forever in its scale, going from monster who struggles to do good with his transformation to something with a near infinite scope (with all that Moore included), and certainly a shift to a global importance in narrative. Also to say his powers slightly changed is laughable, he went from Hulking Monster made of moss to The Avatar of all Plant life on Earth.
He almost certainly will at some point, Ewing's too much of a fanboy to not eventually do it.
>It's just an above-average Hulk run.
I honestly can't remember the last above-average Hulk run before this. 00's Pak Planet Hulk maybe?
Bruce Jones run was once all the rage until it started spinning it's wheels.
I liked Duggan's Doc Green stuff. it got blown up by Secret Wars.
Favorite Hulk is Steve Ditko inks over Jack Kirby pencils. Appearing only at night, still a mystery, this Hulk was scary.
Screw your Alan Moore thread that you tried to piggy back on the Hulk.
OP is a fucking faggot.
NOT A HULK THREAD.
Probably in sales, but not in quality.
Immortal Hulk is capeshit, but it does not pretend it's otherwise, and it does the capeshit very well.
Ditko inking Kirby is a fucking treat. The first appearance of The Watcher in FF was Ditko inks and it looks great.
Since Hulk and Percy's Wolverine are actually pretty decent right now, I hope the 2 books find a way to crossover. It would actually be organic and well-written unlike most crossovers.
>It does not pretend it's otherwise
It calls itself "horror" though, and so do its fans.
I feel like Ewing mentioned something about Hulk eventually making his way towards a Logan confrontation, but can't confirm it. I do know he's working on a rematch with The Thing.
On my side, I think it would be crazy not to make Hulk fight An Island That Walks Like A Man at some point.
I was at Bob Kane's funeral (By the way, Kane was buried with Batman toys. I'm serious; before they closed the coffin, they were putting little toy Batmobiles in there.) As they were lowering Bob Kane into the ground, Stan Lee turns to me and says out of nowhere, 'You know Steve Ditko was the best inker Jack Kirby ever had.' I said, 'All right.' Now, because Stan doesn't have the greatest attention span in the world, we're out in the middle of Forest Lawn (cemetery), and he says, 'There's lots of celebrities here, aren't there?' 'Yes, Stan Laurel is buried here; I saw the grave marker as we were coming in.' 'Really? Let's go see it!' 'Wait. Let them finish lowering Bob first.'
Absolutely- I can see why Lee would rather keep Ditko pencilling but Ditko inks on Kirby pencils was always amazing. I think Ditko inked the Spidey - Human Torch team up in STRANGE TALES ANNUAL 2.
The funny thing was how they had trouble drawing each other's characters. Their instints were so different but they worked well together.
I love that story. So non sequitur. Interviews with Stan were sometimes like free association,
>I feel like Ewing mentioned something about Hulk eventually making his way towards a Logan confrontation, but can't confirm it.
It's the perfect time to do so. Hulk and Logan have history, good and bad, and you just know Krakoa is going to send Wolverine to take out The Hulk. Banner openly threatened the planet, and the mutants are already trying to firmly establish they will no longer be bullied. Bringing in The Hulk would win them major political points. Furthermore, Wolverine and Hulk tearing each other apart in this body horror book would look great.
>I do know he's working on a rematch with The Thing.
You mean ANOTHER fight after the one Slott did in his Fantastic Four? Awesome.
So...I know Kane ripped off Finger and all, but I actually find the toys part kind of endearing.
LOL
There was a joke among fans that because Kane used so many ghost artists, he stabbed his hand with a pencil when he tried to draw at a convention.
Of course in real life women are treated much more leniently for crimes of violence than men are
Calling IH an "above-average Hulk run" is a massive understatement.
The two aren't mutually exclusive
Alan Moore doesn't deserve your attention, money, or respect.
Exactly.
Anyone who has been around Yas Forums long enough-
Knows this guy is having a jerk to Moore at the expense of a Hulk thread.
Moore is no more pretentious than Ewing.
Al Ewing is overrated as fuck and can't even make his cringey shitty soapbox bullshit fit the story.
It's not even coming out anymore lol
