A moment with Jack Cole, creator of PLASTIC MAN

One more PLAYBOY cartoon from Cole, around 1955.

Come back in a few seconds to see what all the yelling is about

Why are rich white men such simps?

They're not. Most are abusive and heartless. This is a cartoon playing on an old stereotype

Captions might help guys...

Most of them didn't have or need captions. I remember clipping some of these from old PLAYBOYS.

When clothes are designed to look good rather than be practical...

Like, the first one has the guy seeing mannequin legs and thinking a woman is having wild sex just out of sight.

She's ticklish, that's adorable!

I actually laughed out loud when I first saw that. The expression on her face is priceless.

A commentary on American history, Eh?

Some user mentioned this in another thread.

Holy shit lol

Oh, thanks. Yeah, I seem to remember Cole leaving an enigmatic suicide note. Too bad. So many undrawn gems died with him

Sneaking a political statement in there, Mr Cole?

Admittedly, this one might not fly so well today but it's still droll enough.

This one did have a caption. "By George, I think you're right. The missing arms of Venus de Milo." It took my years to recognize the arms as giving a streetwalker signal but then I was a kid then.

>jack Cole plastic man omnibus
>never

I think all the issues of POLICE COMICS and PLASTIC MAN can be read or downloaded at both Comic Books Plus and the Digital Comics Museum, but I haven't been to those sites for a stretch*.

*Hah.

The caption here is "No, thanks- just looking."

I can't imagine what type of business was being run in that building. Chiropractic therapy, mzybe?

Im sure they are but it would be nice for Cole's work to have a high quality reprint. Not sure how many issues that would end up being though

Oh I like sitting back with a beautiful reprint, just that I would mention the online source.

As a kid, I sometimes studied the amazing detail in EC comics including MAD with a magnifying lens.

"That's your wife! I thought it was a TV!"

Ever heard about the smashed camera found in the woods? The last picture on it was a selfie of a man with a bear cub and you can just see a big dark shape looming up behind him,

i have but ive never seen the image

I actually laughed.

And the painter doesn't seem to have noticed yet!

There was a website somewhere of Last Images. A guy about to make a fatal bungee jump, the trainer who was killed by an orca. The actual deaths weren't shown. The photo with the bear cub was evidently genuine.
