White Diamond

She was the 2nd most kino villain I've ever seen in a cartoon until Steven basically said "no u"

Why does Rebecca always fuck everything up?

post her feet

I don't understand people who watched steven universe and expected steven to beat a villain by punching their face in.
It would go against the point of the show.
It would be like if a main arc in DBZ ended by talking things over tea with frieza and absolutely no fighting at all.

it's because sugar does not understand that, surprisingly enough, telling a narcissist that they're wrong has not and will not do jack shit to whatever beliefs that they may hold

Didn't Jasper get her face punched in?

Didn't she appear as a villain like two times before turning 'good'? She didn't even have a chance to be a proper villain.

Only discord trannies spam SU threads, now kys

But what was there had the makings of a GOAT.

We were mad because the narrative showed the Diamond's to be unfathomably cruel, with crimes including planetary genocide, body horror experiments on their own people, and enforcing a rigid caste system which forbade intermixing. All in the service of an ever expanding empire. For that much set up to be tossed out the window in favor of a "live and let live, learn to forgive" message was extremely insulting to an audience who had become invested in the conflict. Sugar obviously didn't mean for the Diamonds to be written as loathsomely as they were, but for some reason she didn't reel in her team. Probably because she knew the increasing tension of the stakes kept people interested between long hiatuses. Problem is, instead of changing her intended ending to better fit the new narrative constructed, she stubbornly tried to re-frame everything as gentler at the 11th hour in order to get her way.

You first, paranoid nigger.

I didn't expect that at all, I just wanted a better way to resolve the conflict rather than taking the laziest route imaginable.

I wish she stayed evil or stand off-ish like Jasper. Would've been the most realistic thing if Sugar wanted to dedicate the finale to gay kids dealing with parents/relatives...

Accepts you but doesn't agree with your choices.

I think it's a little more than just Steven going, "Hey now, you're wrong". The end of Change your Mind saw White's entire perception of reality fall apart and that perception relied on mostly two things.

One, is that gems do not have the capacity to change anything about themselves and only exist to carry out whatever function they were created for (the antithesis of the principal in which Pink started the Crystal Gems). Two, For a gem to carry their preordained personality and function is to be "perfect", in her eyes. If they can't, they are deemed flawed and thus, White uses her mind control-projection powers to override what ever flaw they might have had. This works in favor of her perception because, in her mind, she herself is perfect.

The first one of these perceptions died when she tore Steven's gem out of his body and the gem projected into the form of Steven. Human and Pink Steven merging back together drove that home. The second one shattered when she started to throw a petty tantrum when she faced with the fact that whatever was of Pink was gone and changed to Steven.
>You're not "Steven", You're Pink Diamond! You're a Gem, Not a Human! Why do you always act like such a child?!
>I AM a child. What's your excuse?

White then saw herself as flawed in a similar way as she saw Pink as such. The entire scene was a systematic deconstruction of how White viewed herself, other gems and really, the entire world. Even in that moment, her projection ability started to wear off on everyone.

Alright Rebecca stop being such a faggot

Alright dude I can be serious, and I have in the past , but today I have to do a long ass homework and i decided to have a laugh and say that because I find it funny to think Rebecca comes here to explain and defend her show.
Now I agree with almost everything you said but you came off as a little pretentious.

That's fair. I never mean to come across like I'm some giga brain who can understand a children's show better than other people. It's just how I like to talk about fiction I enjoy, plus the idea of Sugar actually coming on here and arguing about her own work is kinda funny.

Yeah I know its super funny, specially after you learn she was a drawfag here circa 2005 when she was teenager and was obsessed with Invader Zim and probably flicked her bean to the tought of fucking Dib and Jhonen Vazquez teaching her how to draw while promoting her to art director for the show.

the point is white should not have so readily accepted that she was in the wrong for being upset that pink diamond cased to exist (by what amounts to gem suicide) especially immediately after steven slapped her with what was in my opinion a tragically weak comeback.

not to mention the smug delivery was so out of place; a massive shift in tone from him after half of his soul was literally ripped out of his body (an event which was later shown to cause severe psychological trauma to steven)

the whole scene just felt off-beat and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, even if i can appreciate the concept and intention of the storyboard.

imo, i think it makes sense given how long she held those beliefs and how hard they just came crashing down. though I do agree with the general sentiment of, the entire thing was rushed and suffered for it. for me, less than others but yeah.

plus the trauma coming back was more of a result of specific events of movie and future, and I can see steven just being happy in the moment of just "being himself"

huh, guess ya learn something new every day. gotta respect actually getting to learn from someone you respect that much.

>genocide
It's not genocide if you can glue them back to life
