Anime is not a medium, it's almost a genre in and of itself, the most extreme end examples of anime have more in common than almost adjacent western genres. There is nothing to be gained by converting a story to fit into the existing anime mold, it's not the same as e.g. converting a live action but CGI-heavy movie or show into an animated one (the freedom to do things and the consistency with which to do them shoots up, at the expense of personal relatability to most audiences). Nothing similar happens with converting things to anime specifically instead of just animation broadly, because anime is almost a creed at this point, and if you don't buy into it wholesale, there's nothing in it for you.
