Chaykin never wrote a character who wasn't shallow and obnoxious.

Even if that is right, he still have reason for what he said.

This is why Jim Shooter is so despised, because Shooter was always willing and able to crack the whip over at Marvel and the hippies and nerds couldn't handle it.

I feel like the dissolution of the bullpen was one of the biggest contributors. Now that everybody is freelancer and nobody has to punch the clock and look their boss in the face every day they exist in their own little bubble and think they're the star of the show. It used to be that only the very top talent could get away with bad behavior, for everybody else the EiC's office was just down the hall.

Every industry is run by cliques and nepotism, and that's always been the case with Comics. Only now they're being steered by the corporate overseers at WB and Disney, which dictates overall narratives and talking points. These aren't people making art, their taking their bullet points from market research, which at it's laziest can be a simple keyword analysis. Hence we have new characters called Safespace and Snowflake long after such terms have been relevant.

Paraphrasing the author's words, they are taking these derogative words that are used in the Internet and wearing them like a badge of honor.

But he also said he was trying to create character that was overtly NOW like 90s edge characters like Nightthrasher and Rage. However I dont know how much humor hes bringing to that idea.

My faith in the overall intelligence of the human race has eroded steadily over the years and I would be absolutely thrilled to be surprised by a tongue-in-cheek element to the nu-warriors but I don't think it's there.

I genuinely believe that comics, illustrations, and books are mediums you can make socio-economic commentary with since movies, even cheap and bad ones, encompass the most opulent art form currently existing
