That was the point of her character, why Sugar called her toxic. Many of the other antagonist characters had some rational reason at some point or another for trying to kill the main cast or cause trouble, but Spinel did what she did purely out of aimless spite.

Not necessarily, she never got a hug and Steven wasn't very enthused with her in general. Her problems were always her own, and the ending plays into this: Steven may have talked her down but she effectively fucked off on her own with some of his nudging.

To be fair, she came from a culture where organics aren’t people, and unlike every other Gem she was never exposed to anything or anyone other than Pink. The Garden where she spent her life has the asteroid she was created from orbiting it. She was seen by the Diamonds and Pearl, but from what we can tell she never interacted with anyone in person but Pink.
Its more like a case of a kid who was raised in a closet and never knew anyone but their father and never saw the sun deciding to blow up a building.

You see it in a few shots. No attention is drawn to it either, so its like an easter egg even though it helps make her character make more sense.
She only ever lived in the Garden as Pink’s forgotten toy. She was robbed of the chance to change that Pink was later so obsessed with after Pearl and Garnet taught her that Gems other than herself can act outside their role and birth programming. Subtext of course being that Pink was a defect like Amethyst.
