Well, this was a completely disappointing read.
>half of the comic is literal filler setting up future second half of the book
>unbearably decompressed
>masturbatory
What's the appeal, Yas Forums, why did you meme it so hard? I will admit that the other half, after beard hunter, was a bit better but it still didn't live up to all the hype.

I like some of Morrison's stuff but this was just bad, the most overrated comic alongside Arkham Asylum
I should have expected that, Morrison loves time travel or time skips way too much.
I pretty much felt the same. It's gimmicky as hell and the art is middling at its best. Most people seem to love it because "it's so weird", which I can understand, but that doesn't mean it's great. Why is this ranked among the greatest comics of all time?
I just watched the TV show, which I thought was pretty good. I guess I'll give this a go then.
Would anyone here recommend the Gerard Way run?
Yes
he's trying too hard, imo. He hasn't got that much to tell, actually. Morrison's run is better, despite what the childish OP troll is saying.
Morrison's run isn't good. It's ridiculously padded and pretentious. Also none of the characters gets any development or characterization. It's bad.
Ok buzzworder
it's character drive, you buffoon.
What makes it so great and not merely good? All of these responses are buzzwords.
Hard no.
>filler
Go back to Yas Forums
I liked parts of it. Sometimes I feel like Morrison went a little too far with the weirdness like the confusing alien war arc with Rhea Jones.
Good one, heh. Weird how none of the characters have any personality to them
Sounds like it went over your head. You can cover your ears and go lalalalala or you can look for explanations. Here you go

It goes over the run fairly nicely.
>Weird how none of the characters have any personality to them
Weird how you pretend there is no characterization and think everyone believes you.
Don't feed the pathetic baiter. Let him at least put effort into his bait before giving him what he so desperately desires.
It didn't go over my head. Also the link you posted is just recounting the events, not making the comic book good in any way
>the single best run on a comic book series in history
>ironic that he has never written something as good as this since
Do you honestly believe this?
the themes it tackles and how it does it. Jane's underground, the beardhunter, the mixture of tragedy and comedy, the wild ideas while still honoring the previous material and the writing. At least for me. To each his opinion.
>Jane's underground
Is probably the most boring way you could portray human mind
>beardhunter
Was a fun one-off, nothing more
well, if you genuinely don't like it nothing i say will change your mind. And thats ok. I like it, you don't. And still i don't think you're the second coming of Hitler. To each his own.
>Is probably the most boring way
You're boring.
It does all of what it does decently but nothing greatly. It all very much reads like a still green Morrison. I'm not against people who love this series, but that people rank it among the greatest is pretty baffling.
Hey, I like you.
Sheesh, guys, don't be so defensive. I just asked if there is any hidden depth I failed to see in this book but it seems it's just what it seemed to be.
Well, remember how old the run is. It was really out there for its time. And i don't know of a series that had that many crazy ideas and executed them as good. But you're right, Morrison's youth is showing.
thank you, user.
no, its pretty straightforward, considering its themes. Thats some of its appeal, for me. Of course thats not stopping people from over-analyzing it.
I loved the Painting that Ate Paris, the Brotherhood of Dada, The Brain/Monsieur Mallah, DANNY THE STREET, everything to do with Rebis
great series
I think it's good but it's so much weaker than the contemporary of Animal Man
>if there is any hidden depth I failed to see in this book
clearly
>>unbearably decompressed
>>masturbatory
This is what happens when casuals pretend they know what they're talking about.
While I didn't enjoy Doom Patrol that much, I thought it was better than Animal Man. Animal Man was mostly mediocre.
