Disney tries to make a muppet show

>Disney tries to make a muppet show
>its the most uncomfortable thing to watch in the franchise
Muppets were Yas Forums right? How do you feel about this version? It feels so lifeless.

It just felt sort of obligatory, like Disney was compelled to make it because they want to keep the IP alive. I don't think the Muppets will get a fair shake under Dsiney anymore because they're not a billion dollar earner like SW or Marvel.

It was a good concept, just terrible execution.

It got a lot better as it went on. No doubt Season 2 would've been great if they were allowed to make it.

where's my george carlin candy dish?

Wasn't it just The Office with Muppets?

Basically.

I enjoyed it.

It feels like Disney will 99% of the time give their IPs to average to obscure writers and hope it will work out rather than giving it to someone actually really good.

I never actually saw it but it seemed to follow that whole awful wave of things trying to be like The Office or Parks and Rec, shows I absolutely can't stand. Obviously I don't know if that was an accurate impression on my part but I feel like many people may have had the same initial though that I did which made people avoid it.

I went down to fraggle rock and left my worries for another day.

>The Muppets, but it's The Office
It could've worked, but it's just too awkward.

I really REALLY liked this show. Kermit being a boss trying to get things running worked so well. Talking heads were also great.

>i-it's awkward!!
It's supposed to be.

the post hiatus part was better, but the damage was already done

>Guy who knows Kermit the best since Jim goes to the writers that Kermit wouldn't lie to his nephew.
>Writers get angry and tell Disney.
>Disney fires Steve Whitmire

What modern Muppets thing was executed better? I don't think it was stand out amazing, but there's worse shit.
It's no Muppets Treasure Island though, but they'll never top their magnum opus

Muppets Tonight was SEVERELY underrated.
>I DIDN'T LIKE THE HOST
Clifford was there to help Steve Whitmire get into the role of Kermit.

Reminder that with both cinemas and theme parks closed, Disney doesn't have the cash flow it's used to, so an optimistic point of view is that it might be encouraged to try end sell off some of "their" IPs that don't make them money.

some people seemed to draw the line at kermit saying "i don't know how to tell you this, but what's in his pocket wasn't a banana" and cutting straight to fozzie kissing a real woman

>What modern Muppets thing was executed better?
The Muppets Movie with Jason Segal was good.

It was good not great, and honestly the best thing about it was the advertising.

The Electric Mayhem were fucking hysterical in the ABC Muppets

>Piggy and Kermit get away with kissing guest stars all the fucking time.
>The one time Fozzie does it, he gets the show canceled.

I didn't mind it.
Had issues but nothing I feel a longer run couldn't have fixed.

That's because he's black.

I take it Rowlf is no longer their pianist?

I think muppets worked best back then, when people literally worshipped TV celebrities, muppets were here to demystify and parody them as they're just pushed around with strings to entertain people with dumb shit

now that everyone knows TV is a sham and youngers would rather watch minecraft youtubers instead, muppets have become what they have parodied - bunch of puppets in delusion that anyone gives a shit about their antics

It's because he's a bear, they covered this racist allegory in episode 1.

It's because Fonzie is more humanoid. There are no people that look like Kermit or Miss Piggy. There's a difference.
