So this game going to be a disaster, right? They haven't shown much footage, and what little they have shown looks like linear QTE crap. Thank god PS4 Spider-Man isn't connected with this. The people over at Insomniac were fans who actually came to SONY asking to do their game. Avengers by Square Enix just looks like a last minute hype train thing since the movies were popular. Moreover, how could they possibly have fleshed out controls for every Avenger, and have maps to accommodate such vastly different play styles?

Only if it doesn't have Carol at launch

She's practically guaranteed DLC since Kamala is there. But as I said, they're promising a lot I don't think they'll deliver on even half of it. It will be the No Man's Sky of comic book video games.

I would have greatly preferred character focused AAA games like Spider-Man got. Thor, Captain America, and Hulk seem like they'd be easy to do

Poor hawkeye.

There are supposed to be more open stages where you can choose any character and also play co-op. The grinding stuff is mostly related to them... However, somehow they've never shown footage of these stages even though the whole loot system makes more sense for them than the main story.

There's something so surreal about this game. Like, we just had Endgame, but this game feels like is a cinematic version of the Avengers from 2005 with the whole "The Avengers are gone, AIM has taken over, and it's time to bring the band back together" feel of it all. It honestly feels like this was the original sequel to the Avengers instead of Age of Ultron.

Why do people expect so many characters? The game is clearly "switch to this character for a small segment, then switch over to this one". I very much doubt we'll get Hawkeye, Black Panther, Carol Danvers, Scarlet Witch, Wolverine, Spider-MAn and all that jazz because it's an Avengers game. This all just looks very streamline.

Hell, I bet you Hank Pym will be the twist villain of the game.

>switch to this character for a small segment, then switch over to this one
user that is literally just the tutorial

Is Clint the Marvel version of Roy Harper now? The man can't catch a break.
Makes me think this shit is trash and the only footage they can advertise is the linear QTE segments. They're also promising online co-op where you play through the story with friends. Though I suspect it won't be what most people think.
I highly doubt that. Resembling a team is a standard trope. Trophy list actually leaks some plot points too
They're promising dedicated DLC with added characters to keep this shit alive to go along with their pitch of huge maps and whatnot. Like I said, a lot of promises that will probably fall through.
>Hank being the villain
Doesn't really match up with the leaks

Showing like 5 minutes of gameplay between reveal and release is always a good sign, isn't it?

Can you blame me? That's all they ever fucking show about the game!

It just looks so generic.
First MUA 3 gets a movie shitter plot (Movie Synergy is bad enough but whoever decided to include Thane can fuck right off) and now this.

Some of the THQ game concept art was legit pretty interesting. Definitely wouldn't mind some artists taking a few notes from those designs.

>I highly doubt that. Resembling a team is a standard trope. Trophy list actually leaks some plot points too
That's what I mean. The plot feels very much like a sequel to a blockbuster movie that came out 10 years ago. It just feels like they're trying to be cinematic too much that it feels like something the Ultimate Universe would try and do.
>They're promising dedicated DLC with added characters to keep this shit alive to go along with their pitch of huge maps and whatnot. Like I said, a lot of promises that will probably fall through.
Then how about they fucking show us these huge maps instead of the San Francisco segment over and over?!
>Doesn't really match up with the leaks
Can you spill these leaks? I'm just going off what I assume with how a character shows up and everyone acts chummy only to reveal said character is the traitor trope with how much this is following a movie's structure.

This user is right. All they show is the linear bullshit, most of which is through cinematic trailers or leaked gameplay of the tutorial they never released officially. Hulk for example just looks brain dead, as all you do is move the stick forward and smash square. Hell when they announced this game, they were more concerned about showcasing the actors motion cap/voicing the characters rather than the game itself, acting like it was some damn movie

That was when Marvel synergy was at it's highest with all the transferring Inhumans to the games and cartoons.

I haven't kept up much with the leaks myself, but I do know that the Achievement Leaks revealed that Modok is the villain.
It's going to be interesting to see how this game's design style pulls him off...

I very much doubt that MODOK is the main villain of the game. He's too fucking goofy to be the lead villain of an Avengers game.

Basically from what I remember right now without looking it up
>A-Day disaster, the shit we've seen from the trailers where Taskmaster distracts the Avengers while a team crashes the helicarrier, which is powered by a Terrigenesis crystal
>Kamala is there that day, breathes in the mist before the ship explodes, and gets powers
>Ship creates Inhumans outbreak, Cap is presumed dead in the crash
>Flash forward a few months/years
>AIM basically has taken control. They manipulated the public to get rid of the "Inhuman threat", have robots and shit patrolling daily. It's basically a recycled X-Men/Sentinel plot.
>Avengers are broken up
>Kamala finds Banner, and they begin to reassemble the team
>MODOK is the main threat, Cap's been imprisoned all this time, and MODOK made a deal with The Kree Empire in which he creates, captures, and sells Inhumans to them to fuel their war.

you can't have a flight jacket AND no pants!

I'd like to see Team Ninja completely left to their own devices with a Marvel game. No interference at all from the Mouse.

What would it be like?

>Kamala
>MODOK
>Kree
where the FUCK is Carol

It's not even that. The game actually had X-Men so it's past the point the bug that crawled up Disney's ass died. The Inhumans weren't even bad in the game.
It's Thanos, The Black Order and Thane. I admit I'm mostly mad because I'm a Thanos fag but fucking Doom had a cool plot/faithful characterization when he was the main villain. Thanos instead of being himself is (as always when someone other than Starlin, Ewing or even Cates writes him) Generic space villain #34678 (Also that ass-pull at the end). The game looked good and had some nice gameplay improvements but it also had huge step-backs (Whose the retard that decided not to share XP/level up out of party characters?). Plus the loss of comic missions (which where the best way to introduce people to characters while also letting them unlock costumes). I'm sad that it looks like we'll never get a plot as epic as MUA 1 again but 3 did at least try I'll give it that

I'm not going to excuse them. I think they had as much free reign as at least Insomniac did with Spider-Man if not more so (I mean the way women were allowed to be super hot kind of proves it visually if not the inclusion of X-Men) they took the easy way out for the plot Disney didn't force them

It's actually interesting, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo doubled-down on the X-Men having a presence in MUA3 when it was in the early stages of pre-production and threatened to walk on the project entirely if they weren't allowed to use them.

MvCI's failure and the subsequent way it was handled I think set something of a precedent for Marvel's gaming division.

Literally everything you said up until the last sentence is what we've seen in trailers. I'm sure the last part is true, but I was at least hoping for some explanation on how Hank Pym, Abomination and all that tie together.

Yeah it’s not bad but I’m not really feeling it plus the avengers look like MCU stunt doubles rather than the characters they’re supposed to be, except Ms.Marvel but I feel like this is all gonna be bland as hell

Call me crazy, but didn't they do something with Marvel recently? I feel like I'm having a Mandela effect because I distinctly recall Team Ninja making a Marvel game in like the past 2 years.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3

I'm kind of hoping for a MUA4 for the pure curiosity of where they will go post Thanos.

They did MUA3, but it was obvious from parts of it (the roster being the main one) that they still had the Mouse looking over their shoulder for the whole thing.

Looks good. It'll be cool to play as the characters.

Well Hank is just Hank. He's probably living off the grid like a nutjob until Tony calls in a favor. Abomination? Hired muscle working for MODOK because both have fought The Hulk frequently

You know what I fucking miss? The Marvel where there was a culture around superheroes and supervillains. Where supervillains could have bars they hang out in, and there were casual jokes about Dr. Doom having lawyers preventing prosecution. I'm so tired of this Jerry Bruckheimer "The world has changed" tone. I want something like the start of Incredibles, not this "There are only 6 superheroes in the entire world" shit.

They could've/should've done Annihilation. They did Doom in the DLC (on top of him already being the Villain for the first game but whatever).
Maybe that's game 4

I have a gut feeling the most control they had over the game was how Psylocke looked and the least control was the inhumans level which was barely a level.

How can you say that with a straight face?

Because I mean it.

Does it matter? You want to talk in-depth about vidya go to >>Yas Forums

No you don't. Well either that, or you're easily impressed

Marvel doesn't have enough space locations unique enough to justify an Annhilation game. Hell, you can't even define what makes a Skrull spaceship different than a Kree spaceship different than a Shi'Ar Spaceship!
