I’m all for silly episodic slapstick cartoons, but I really don’t want Tig n' Seek to turn out like the latest SpongeBob episodes: a style-over-substance approach where the board artists just show off how many WAcKy expressions and psychedelic montages they can come up with instead of trying to form coherent standalone stories that are held up by strong jokes and snappy comedic timing.

It wasn’t. There’s a reason why classic SpongeBob doesn’t resemble Ren & Stimpy so closely. The classic writers and boarders had a far better balance of visual and dialogue-based humor. I think people like Vincent Waller, Adam Paloian, and Benjamin Arcand might’ve seen how stiff Seasons 6-8 were and tried to reel the show back to being more cartoony, only they took it to an alarming degree.
