Why do they go colour then b/w then colour is this common for Italian Disney?

I dont care just seems weird is all. Like I get having the first page of a chapter colour like 2000ad did but this seems... strange.

it was common until the late 80's to only colour half the pages to save on the costs.

Used to be. This story is from the 50s, they switched to all color in the 70s.
