Elka is great.
Unsounded
Now I know why she wasn't raped during torture, it's a bitch beating her
dude, get therapy
fuck off
What (or who) would Cresce get secretly from someone in Alderode? Would it be Sonorie who sent them, or Bell either collaborating with his co-conspirators or orchestrating a false flag?
Go home, nerd
Seems most tend towards thinking the latter. Sonorie is working with the Black Tongues on the RF-H (ptooh) soul map
Pissing off the Alds and thus putting pressure on the Queen would make sense for Bell
Bell wants total war
So many layers to this intrigue, especially because both Sonorie and Bell have had dealings with Ruck. We know Ruck is controlling and manipulating Bell. But is he honest with Sonorie, or is he manipulating her, too?
That was a fucking burn
I generally work under the presumption that everyone is behaving at least to the literal letter of what they're saying. Because that's just how shit works when the story is being told from a third-party perspective, the author has a responsibility to make "twists" realistic and we as the audience just can't be shitty and assume the author is lying to us.
I think it's safe to say Ruck is dealing in truth with Sonorie and works to deliver whatever will destroy Alderode. Ruck wanting to put Bell in charge doesn't exactly contradict that goal. The snake is driven by experiences and it's probably a sure thing that once a nation is destroyed it would get pretty boring if Sonorie just consolidates power, better that shit goes to war in a power vacuum.
Because I figure he is at his most entertained when things are at war. War lets you do a myriad of awful shit. That being said, he's shown an appreciation for technological accomplishments, which he ought to understand can only be achieved during peacetime. I would imagine he's seen enough war for that to actually get boring.
I'm absolutely convinced Sonorie is manipulating Bell via Ruck, who's giving the psycho the courage to try for his coup. Then Sonorie gets to publicly defeat him and humiliate him, which will make her look strong to the public in a way she never has. It'll give her the political capital she needs to do whatever her big brain nonviolent plan is to take down Alderode.
As for the surveyors, they were obviously using Roger's tunnels and smuggling in those trolls we saw last chapter. As fake-Toma says on this page, why now, when Roger's been around for years?
Well, what happened relatively recent? Quigley showed up with plans on how to weaponize senet trolls, giving Sonorie a powerful motivation to get them in hand. We know she had an opportunity to steal that info from him and that she hasn't pursued him since.
Queen's making a bunch of Uaids, probably at the shrine. And Uaid was specifically designed for the nonvolent purpose of being immune to the freaky kert of Alderode.
I think the QUeen did fuck up though. Her surveyors got captured and Roger's tunnels were discovered in the process. And that's what's led to all these Aldish victories. She'll have to fix this, or maybe she can pin it on Bell after she takes him down.
I think you're right about Ruck, but you must be hilariously naive to think everyone in this story tells the truth. Shit, just look at literally every Sharte, or Bell, or Hetr if you want examples of lying
I'm not saying everyone doesn't lie. I'm saying if we don't actually see them lying, we shouldn't assume they're lying.
Sette's an exception, but she's more a bullshitter than a liar.
I think you're on to something with the baby mountain ogre corpses. There's almost certainly a a construct factory at the shrine; I remember ages ago people here or in Ashley's asks or maybe Ashley herself saying something about a future chapter taking place at a construct factory. Cresce's current construct fleet serves as an approximate counter to Aldish aerial supremacy via vliegeng, but if an army of new pymary-proof constructs made cheaply with minimal First Materials were built, the balance might tip far enough that Alderode would be willing to run vliegeng raids deep into Cresce to prevent it. Keep in mind that vliegeng only feed on a kind of redwood-sized frozen bamboo called frost giants, which only grow on the northern coast of Alderode. So any vliegeng operation includes constantly flying some of their forces back north to feed them, something that becomes more and more difficult the further they intrude into Cresce.
Fun fact about the vliegeng unit we saw at the battle: they're based out of the Temple of Song in Durlyne. And guess whose vliegeng appears in the wide shot of the battle. Can't wait to see how Duane reacts to seeing him.
Just doing a quick tally of all the players that we know of. Here's everyone I can think of with their own, independent agenda:
>Sonorie
>Bell
>Ruck
>Prakhuta
>Bastion
>Duane
>Ilganyag
>Beadman
>Roger
>Quigley
>Vits Council
>the author has a responsibility to make "twists" realistic and we as the audience just can't be shitty and assume the author is lying to us.
For the most part we're not getting internal monologues, though, we're getting one person explaining what their motivations are to another person that they may have good reason to lie to.
And I dunno that Ruck has even thought as far ahead as "who do I want ruling this place?" I think he sees that sweet, sweet brain juice and an opportunity to get it and gulps it down, consequences be damned.
Don't forget the sharts
Lemuel is 100% in there as well, even if he's paying lip service to someone.
>>Duane
>>Ilganyag
This makes me wonder. Duane's not an idiot. THIS page makes you wonder just to what extent tittybird has pulled the wool over his eyes. It looks like she was manipulating him into doing what she wanted when they skated and fucked in the Khert. But is Duane merely going along with it for now? Does Duane have his own long-term plans, and is it possibly that HE'S using HER to enact them?
>Duane have his own long-term plans
I mean much of the story is him being led around
>Does Duane have his own long-term plans
1. Stop the Silver
2. Sound the Great Unsounded
3. Make a respectable woman out of Sette
These are ranked in ascending order of difficulty.
I don't think Duane even really knows what he wants at this point. He's so traumatized and confused at this point I not even sure he's all that connected to reality any more.
>3. Make a respectable woman out of Sette
godspeed Duane
I feel like him looking at the red goop from his pain and anger is showing a bit of self awareness about the whole situation. Remember, her goal is to make him "awake" and stop living in dreams and memories.
Duane is naive to a fault, but when he shows resolve, shit gets done.
I think in the story, shit is about to start getting done. Shrine detour is officially wrapping up.
What's with all the nerds?
>[Rattles bonebox loudly]
That's Beadman.
He's clinging to his patriotism hard to have something to believe in, I think. But how long is that gonna hold up now that he's in Cresce and will see the human toll of his rhetoric?
>That's Beadman.
There is also the King
I was hoping we'd get a James Bond-esque interrogation with Elka or Toma and Elka did not disappoint with her steely resolve.
The king doesn't give two shits, Beadman runs the country
King doesn't have an agenda unless you consider hedonism an agenda.
Fuck off retard
I don't know I think the fat tub of lard is hiding something in his folds
