Alright fuckers let's separate the boys from the men. Choose your bending element and defend why it is the best of the four elements. This is in general as well so how it applies to both battle and day to day existence so your element being the best in combat should not make it the best if it can't do jack for the common man.
Alright fuckers let's separate the boys from the men...
Fire.
>lightning snipers
Air
Do you realize how deadly a single bubble of air, 1/20 the size of a dime is to you just injected into your blood stream?
A single wound is all I need to fuck someone up. One bloody scratch and someone’s going into cardiovascular failure
Fire. You can create it from nothing. That's why the Fire Nation conquered the world.
I see the racists are out early.
This isn't just about battle
>proceed to only list battle applicability
Ok, I can fly with air, I could make a cool airship, I could make a sailboat, I could do the cool ball thing,
Earth.
>instant house with impressive fortifications and tunnel network
>wells, aqueducts, river damming/redirection, agriculture use, etc.
>easy mining for precious metals and stones
>can use tremor sense to detect shit
>decent combat application, even more so with metalbending
>sandbending pretty cool
Close the thread, we have a winner here
???
energybending
Okay time to explain why earth bending is objectively the supreme element to bend
>Metal bending
>sand bending
>construction and builiding applications
>seismic sense
>really good for travel
>has no real elemental weaknesses
>lavabending
Earthbending is also used by Toph and King Bumi some of the most based benders in the world.
Based earthbender
Fire is the one who would save your ass in any situation where survival is necessary. Fighting anyone (even other benders) is a lot easier when all you gotta do is punch fire. It is by far the fastest bending, therefore the one faster to cause serious harm. Fuck that dancing bullshit.
Not only that, in extreme conditions you will be mostly safe: no wild animal will fuck with you, and you have fire in case it gets dark. If it's cold, it also helps. You can boil water, and cook food so it doesn't kill you. No other bending helps you in that way.
In day to day life, firebending is not that helpful, but neither is any other bending. Moving water or earth isn't going to change anything in your routine.
No air bender in the show does that because it's impossible. You cannot create enough force to push an air bubble inside someone, and you won't have the concentration to do so after having your face punched.
Fire > Earth > Water > Air
Invading Manchu (only similarities with Nippon are industrialization and the fact they live on an archipelago) who ass-rapes everyone > Imperial Qin Dynasty who can barely hold them (plus best girls) > Eskimos no one gives a shit about > Tibetan mountain monks who got ass-raped
>create a vacuum in the air and then close it
invisible air mines
Fire is probably the worst. Excluding battle it has no real applications to day to day life and I call bullshit on bending not changing you routine. Bending can change the way you travel, interact with the world, and your career while fire bending just makes you better at fighting people which is something every other element is also able to do.
are you kidding me
>it gets dark and you need light
>it gets cold and you need warmth
HOLY SHIT. You can make the stuff human beings have been making with basic tools for millions of years. Oh yea the earthbenders who can shape the terrain as they please and the airbenders who can obtain the gift of flight must be so jealous.
Also any earthbender can also make a fire pretty easy by smashing some rocks together
tooks too long to do vacuum with airbending, which is why the only two times that was used in the show was against two completely inept people.
>Bending can change the way you travel, interact with the world, and your career
How so? You gonna surf in unexistent waves to your job? build houses with your unexistent knowledge about construction? it won't help you do shit.
>which is something every other element is also able to do
Hope you have a good time getting shot while looking for water or dancing around.
>earthbenders who can shape the terrain as they please
So can normal humans, and if you try to do that in an urban area you gonna get arrested, unlike firebending.
>airbenders who can obtain the gift of flight
Airbender. Singular. And only because he: 1- Was a genius. 2- Lost everything.
Also any earthbender can also make a fire pretty easy by smashing some rocks together
thats not how it works
>And if you try to do that (Earthbending) in an urban area you gonna get arrested, unlike firebending.
>Unlike Firebending
>Firebending, the thing that is used to start fires consciously and otherwise
user, I...
Okay the first argument doesn't even make sense.
>looking for water or dancing around.
Well all the other benders have their element literally fucking everywhere I don't see how a water bender would have a hard time ever finding water. High level water benders don't even need open sources of water you can just absorb it from the area like from the plants. Firebending also requires some of level of "dancing" to use properly.
All this proves that water bending is the best bending.
>Unlicensed construction is a crime
>Walking around spewing open flames is not a crime.
Also
>Implying punch bending is special to Firebending
If you watched the show you'd know that literally everyone that can bend, can bend with a punch. The reason there are more refined martial arts and everyone else has more advanced techniques than "Punch", is indeed to show off choreography but also because the most direct and obvious attack is the easiest to avoid.
>Officer: Cool new trick you used to lit your cigar, bro.
>Me: Hell yeah.
>You: *breaks the fucking road* LoOk WhAt icAn do
> *gets shot*
Yes normal humans can shape the terrain but earthbenders are doing it on a huge scale and can do it in seconds it isn't really the same.
Fire
So I don't have to make giant ovens if I wanna burn some Jews.
or some airbenders
>So can normal humans, and if you try to do that in an urban area you gonna get arrested
use a man hole cover and fly around
>Airbender. Singular
use a air glider or other contraptions get a similar mobility without philosophical fuckery
>airbenders
there were two
I'd go with water:
>Healing
>Can unspill a drink if you knock over a glass. I wonder how that applies to water filtration or keeping electronics dry.
>Ice if I need to restrain someone.
>Removing ice or condensation from windows
>Bloodbending is an advanced technique that I probably won't learn.
Sure, it's a problem if I go anywhere with low humidity and not much water around. But I wouldn't want to live there anyway.
If it comes to a fight with another bender, it's clear that individual skill matters a lot.
If it's a fight with an animal, all elements offer sufficient ways to end the fight. Again, it's down to the benders skill.
For survival situations, yes the ability to start a fire is helpful. Water or earth bending also have their uses. Air, not so much.
>but neither is any other bending. Moving water or earth isn't going to change anything in your routine.
I live close to the ocean. On a windy day, I can get a bit of salt buildup on my car windows. Water bending would make rinsing it off much quicker than dragging out a hose.
Have you ever gone to your car in the morning to find the windows covered in condensation or ice ?
Waterbending can clear that up very quickly.
>Firebending also requires some of level of "dancing"
Not really. It is why firebending is commonly referred to as 'punching fire'.
>all the other benders have their element literally fucking everywhere
Waterbenders won't find enough water to fight, if any. And it is difficult to say if Earthbending would be affected, considering how much shit we put in earth for construction these days. There is a reason as to why it took so long to discover metalbending; many people tried and failed to use earth when it is mixed with other substances. Either way, earth is one of the slowests forms of bending.
And airbending, well.. while you're busy fanning the robbers to death, they will be busy shooting you. Airbending is useless in actual combat, which is why air nomads were wiped out.
Fire might not seem good but it runs everything in the background. The energy we have is mostly from burning stuff. Electricity makes all your stuff work. In a futuristic Avatar scenario the Fire Nation could have been a modern society while other nations would have been left behind in the middle ages. Building stuff with Earth in your arms reach never makes skyscrapers. Not to mention Fire seemed the most progressive nation (even if it was controlled by a dictator). In all the other nations women were pretty much second class citizens.
This.
Well not this cause I still would want earthbending but this as in this is an actual strong argument
Fire
because the fire nation is the most advanced nation and we need to share this prosperity with the rest of the world.
