Who here is an ‘essential worker’? If I have one more customer cough on me while checking out, I’m going to quit on the spot.

Nurse here, I was laid off on Monday. The hospital isn't making enough money because no one can and even if they want won't come to hospitals. Hospital cutting 40% of staff.
>comics and cartoons
but I'm lucky to work in a food joint where there's already space and glass between people AND i get to tell people to Step Back
also depopulated college area, i don't think I've even seen anyone seriously sick
I own a gas station. Essential my ass. Dude I need beer. Dude COUGH LOL JK IM NOT SICK DW. DUDE LET ME LEAN ON THE COUNTER AND TALK ABOUT MY DAY
>bitching about still having a job
Dental assistant here, the hospitals in our area have asked us to stay open to keep people being in emergency rooms for dental problems. This shit sucks so much.
I was until I got furloughed. They simply can't pay us, and now the office is a skeleton crew of like half a dozen people. Until the county businesses start paying taxes, I'm out of work.
>bitching about not being out in the hazard zone
Pizza delivery here. White trash need to learn that two dudes in the back of a gas station are not a replacement for every meal in your community.
I work clean up duty at an emergency room. We've had less and less patients coming in (they moved all the positives to a higher floor) so now things have significantly calmed down. Still gotta put on PPE to clean rooms and we still got a morgue trailer outside. I don't see them wheel bodies to it but someone let me know it is kinda getting full.
RIP essential Yas Forumsmrades, we'll miss you dearly
I work at a gas station, if you're my boss please give me my raise
Never has working at a service Desk for IT on a mids shift (10pm-6am) felt so good. Huge office space with a remote cubicle, and minimal manning.
Are you elderly or an AIDS patient? It's not that serious bro.
You guys got actual N95s yet? We are still just using surgicals
who here is
>non-essential but open anyway
Have severe asthma and it’s already a bitch with allergies. If I get it while working, I’ll be dead from choking on my own fluids.
user its killed mode than swineflu
Yeah we got actual N95s. We don't have a huge staff and plenty of donations came in. It wasn't too hard to snag one but it's suspected someone on staff might have stolen a few from the supplies we got.
Process engineer here, still working and getting hazard pay. My company is in the supply chain for water treatment and essential chemical production. Sales seem down, but nobody's been laid off yet, not even the temps
At least when we’re dead, we’re dead. It’s you who are alive who are going to be scavenging and killing each other for limited resources once the food makers die out and food runs low. Already happening in the pork factories.
>yfw nothing at all has changed in your life
ups driver/trucker here, making bank and got 3 weeks of vacation coming up that i got front loaded, 3 grand after taxes is pretty nice
Fun read to anyone who enjoys pork/beef. That beef burger or pork chop will become the next caviar and goose liver...rich folks only. Rest get bugs and plants.

I had it but recovered, it was easily the most miserable two weeks of my life. I was just so tired and fatigued the entire time, I didn't even have the energy to drag my ass out of bed to my computer to shitpost, I had to do it from my phone like some sort of filthy peasant. In all seriousness though, I did have it, and each night was horribly stressful and wracked with anxiety knowing that if my symptoms worsened I could die.
We had two staff steal an entire order of hand sanitizer.
Maybe if you stopped asking for a smoke break every five minutes and actually worked rather than looking at porn on your phone on the clock, you would get one.
I work at an auto parts store. We're still going and I've still got my job but hours have been cut back some.
Work at a bakery that delivers to cafes and grocery stores. Work has real slow down and I can do my job in three hours when it usually take six and a half. Most of the staff had either have cut hours or been lay off. I still work the same amount since I work part time on the weekend but man does it suck trying stretch what little work I have to eight hours
>>non-essential but open anyway
What are you? My state is on lock down and if you aren’t essential but open, you get a huge ass fine.
Nurse. My unit is Neurotelemetry and we haven’t transitioned to being covid focused but might if there’s a big surge. I haven’t had a patient be confirmed Covid yet but it’s probably a matter of time.
That really sucks. My hospital has had a really low census too but I don’t think they will cut staff because we’re a big moneymaker as we’re where all the specialized surgeries happen. The units that have been closed just have those nurses orient and work on different units.
>actually missing doing activities outside of watching cartoons, vidya and shitposting
I want things to go back to normal bros. I spent Easter locked in my apartment while only talking to family on cell phone and eating frozen pizza rather than our normal family Easter meal. This shit sucks ass.
I work for a payroll company. We've been getting fucking slammed with calls and working from home is a nightmare, I was already thinking about quitting now I'm stuck for a while. Even worse because our "off-shore" team is shut down because India is closed. It does help that we got paid extra last check. No idea if we're getting it this Friday though. Thanks China you communist fucks
Thank you guys/gals and everyone else here still working. You’re all doing good work!
yeah, i get a paycheck so i dont want thanks, i just want someone to shove a boot up the ass of the CCP
>Thanks China you communist fucks
Come on, you got to admit that this looks delicious right? But seriously, fuck China hard
Really? You guys use the standard push down ones or dispenser only types?
Over here the first few weeks were rocky but eventually the community started treating us like Kings. We've been getting free food (sandwiches, pizza, etc) from stores around the area, donations flowing in meant short supply of gear quickly wasn't an issue and some other good shit.
