I loved the toys, I wanted big articulate combiners ever since I was a kid. The only main ones I missed were Computron, Predaking and Devastator. Also the Piranacon that was supposed to be out recently for whatever reason. I even got Victorion, I mean someone's gotta love her it might as well be me.

I'm gonna die, OP. I'm gonna have an embolism. So much of it isn't engaging with the book at all and OF COURSE it has problems but whhyy why do we have to do this every time.
Like you can complain about the white saviour narrative but 1) the story shows that everything that comes of that is fucking terrible 2) what happens in Dune basically happened IRL multiple times in some form or another, like the bones of the plot are historical.
I should have seen this coming but I didn't and my brain can't take it. I don't need to see the million hot takes, I would rather be blind.

I saw popular hot take-making author retweet a thing that was like "EVEN IF the story shows the terrible consequences of a saviour narrative, you think people watching the movie aren't going to see a hero?" and it's just, we can't have anything anymore. No subtlety, no complexity, just gotta unironically endorse only the positive things like children.
Also I honestly rate some of the awful prequels over the awful main series books.

RE: Dune I intensely hate that the “twist” of no good imperialism happens in later books bc that first one is white savior as FUUUUUUCK and I’m upset about “you gotta keep reading to get it” bc Herberts prose is very bad! The best version of the story is the marvel comic cause Bill Sinkevitz drew it.
Anyway the movie looks very grey which is disappointing and they’re turning the shitty overlong first book into two movies for some reason! I love the cast and Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica is literal dream casting for me so I’ll see it still. Lady Jessica was imo the best past. And the rest of the cast isn’t shabby either!

I like a lot of the mysticism and religious dialogue in the first two books just in how it flows/sounds but yes the writing gets extremely bad later. Also I would argue that although the real trauma comes later the first book isn't exactly 'some good Imperialism' either.
