Did I hear live action potential
The movie was not all the popular in it's day. I like it but there is nothing sacred about it that should be saved from live action foolery.
You thought he was gone, but he's back, bitches!
Why? Should I worry?
Gotta love how the loan shark character in Shark Tale was also named Sykes. Since Jeffrey Katzenberg worked on both films, i doubt it was coincidence
everytime someone mentions this movie i cant help but think of that comic where all the animals rape her over and over on her birthday
god i love that comic, but i feel bad about it
If they get Billy Joel again, it will be worth it
This. The man's an incredible voice actor. It's such a shame that he never really voiced anyone outside of this movie.
And instantly there is talk of a live action remake Robin Hood
This is my favorite Disney movie, but I wouldn't care if they made a shitty live-action adaption. If anything it would be entertaining to see how they'd screw it up.
I think the experience was probably not great for him. Maybe he didn't think it was that fun.
Funny how both Mike Judge and John K hated this film. Scroll straight to the end inthe80s.com
I mean John K’s opinion has never mattered, he hates anything he didn’t make or wasn’t made by Hanna Barbera. But it’s interesting to hear Mike talking about it. I never hear much about his opinions on animation in general, all I know is that he hates the early Beavis and Butthead episodes.
>implying anyone on this board was old enough to own a VHS of it
>i doubt it was coincidence
Wow, user. That's a real Twist.
They're both a reference to Oliver Twist. You know, that book that Oliver & Company is fucking named after.
Fuck's sake.
>MUH JOHN K
Whew, we almost mentioned him without someone bitching about it!
Didn’t really mean it like that. Just stated a fact, the man is really stubborn about what he considers “good”. I mean he really loathes anything that isn’t specifically in his niche. Not that I think Oliver & Company is a great film, I just wouldn’t really take the critiques of someone like John seriously. Hearing Mike’s opinion is much more interesting because he doesn’t really talk about this stuff often.
Get off my lawn, youngin'.
I have mine around in a hole somewhere as well, fellow user.
Yeah, but honestly, we haven't got a single working VCR to play it on. We just keep certain old VHS tapes for the memories.
Oliver & Company is decent stylistically but the story lacks cohesion. It doesn't know whether it's supposed to be about Oliver's relationship with Dodger & co or his relationship with Penney. And it's not really a "torn between two worlds" story either, that aspect is really underdeveloped. Sykes has good presence but is pretty underwhelming, not enough screen time.
As a fan of this movie, this is what really bothers me most about it. Why does Dodger think Oliver would even want to come back to his gang? Dodger betrayed him, didn’t even give him the food that Oliver chased him across the city for, and generally just treated him poorly compared to Jenny. The movie really needed to give Oliver more of a reason to consider the gang his friends. He spent one day with them before getting separated, and Dodger acts like he’s known him for years by the time they get him back. It just sorta sucks that Oliver doesn’t really get a chance to do anything on his own. Literally every action that happens to him in this movie is because some other character threw him into it. He’s never allowed to think for himself or do anything to develop his character passed the first 8 minutes of the movie
No!
Pixar is bound to get some live action adaptations anyway
My nignogs.
Forgive my dirty ass rug.
Well, it didn't come out on VHS until like ten years after its theatrical run so...
So it's agreed that Rita > Georgette, right?
How would they do a live action adaptation of WALL-E?
I had one back in the day. One of my favourites, too.
Streets of Gold and Why Should I Worry were fuckin' tight and Bette Midler was perfect casting.
Underrated
