The first one is awful, the second one was a marked improvement but still fell flat in a lot of places.

No they’re ok.

In terms of cast and tone? No. In terms of script? Absolutely. The Fantastic Four is about two things; family, and weird science exploration. The four of them should be traveling different dimensions, going into deep space, or entering Earth's core. What do these movies do? They dick around an apartment. Their Doctor Doom sucked, as did their Galactus.

they were okay. they were very much a product of their time. watching im1 reminded of the previous generation of marvel films, because it's still the same formula, except it's a bit more refined. they realized sum41 during action sequences was dorky, so ac/dc at the beginning and using a score was of higher standard.

I agree

The cast was awful. Especially Reed was miscast as all hell.

Chiklis was perfect as the Thing, and Evans was good as Johnny.

The rest sucked though.

>not wanting The Real World: Baxter Building

Never saw the second one, but the first FF movie is the laziest most cookie cutter super hero movie ever.

Which one had the best Dr Doom?

Apparently during one scene in the second movie Jessica Alba was told she was crying to realistically and she needed to "cry prettier"

Comparatively, no.

Trick question, there is no worst Dr.Doom!

They were very much films made by committee.

>Chiklis was perfect as the Thing, and Evans was good as Johnny.

True. If you accept them as films made for children, they aren't total garbage, but there's no reason for an adult to watch them.

First one was literally every MCU film.
2nd was rushed trash. Thou the did a good job with Silver Surfer & Johnny.

I enjoy the first one, the second was absolutely unwatchable though.

>First one was literally every MCU film

This. If they released it in Phase 1 or 2 it would have been praised

I liked them when I watched them. Rewatched them pretty often too. Then 9-13 years old.

>If they released it in Phase 1 or 2 it would have been praised
No it wouldn't, you must not have seen it in a while. It's crap. We're supposed to accept that Jessica Alba is really smart. Let's be charitable and say she is, but she sure doesn't know how to ACT like she's smart. It's not a cheerleader and nerd relationship. Cap made an excellent Johnny Storm though.

But mostly the writing was bad.

they're mediocre and a product of their time

Not really. They were both a lot better than the Josh Trank Fant4stic

Watched them recently, no worse then the weaker MCU stuff like Ant-Man tbqh

Watching them both recently they’re not bad, I enjoyed them more than CM and Dark World. The second one could’ve done more with Galactus, also if these movies were made right now with the same case and better graphics they’d make a lot of money. Best Ben Grimm as well.

>Ant-Man
>weak
shit taste

The whole cast other than Doom was perfect

That made her almost quit acting and then she started her billion dollar business.

They are not good movies but I do ENJOY(not like) them. You don't get movies with this atmosphere and the ridiculous factor of the early to mid 2000s. Most points in this thread I can agree with(the Thing is perfect in these movies) but personally I'd like to add 2 things: Yes Doctor Doom sucks but I find him somewhat funny in several scenes. Also, no matter how painfully average(or slightly below) they may be, it's still better than the 2015 one.

Most reasonable post so far, they also rushed the Super Skrull stuff but it was good.

>weaker stuff like Antman
Funny way to spell Captain Marvel

Good post, I liked the casting (Chiklis and Johnny were spot on) I even like Reed and Sue. Doom could’ve been better but he looked great in the second one. They dropped the ball with Galactus. One of my favorite scenes is the first when they fight Doom and Reed uses basic science to beat him.

>but he looked great in the second one

I agree
