The Dragon Prince

I finally laid down and watched Aarons latest franchise. Overall, it was good.
However, I can't stop thinking Avatar:TLA when I watched it becaus it share the exact same structure. Seasons are called books. Instead of 4 elements we have 6 primals, which you will recognize with runes kinda like TLA. And some of these characters are created by bits and pieces from TLA characters. Also kinda same humor but sometimes more cringe/childish than that.
And of course, there are SJW committees involved just to show how they "support diversity".
No idéa if they will make a season 4 which I would be suprised if here won't be. But is there a way for this show to step out of TLA shadow becaus that's what the show is currently. A lesser Avatar:TLA.

How about no?

If nothing else, I was always going to watch it for the elves.

The serie was pretty much made by shippers for shippers. Just increase the R rating and imagine what teen love they could go away with.

Netflix promoted the show yesterday on their f*cebook page.

While social media employees don't decide whether a show gets renewed or not, i'm pretty sure if they intended to can the show they'd have a memo from the top to bottom to tone down promotional content for the dragon prince.

Still, while it is definitely a good sign, netflix might go cancel city anyway. pic related

its too obvious.

I really like it myself but at the end of the day it really is just bootleg ATLA.

>But is there a way for this show to step out of TLA shadow
They'd have to pull off some stellar writing in the future seasons for that to have a chance. Honestly it was kind doomed from the start - the primal magic sources stuff is way less cool then elemental bending and the world of TDP feels like a very generic fantasy world compared to TLA.

suffered through 3 seasons of the show and i didnt realize there were "categories" of primal magic. i thought there was just the dark magic Claudia used and the "good guy" magic the elves used.

I know why people are doing parallels between the two but Soren's not trying to restore his honor

Did you fast forward through the entire start of the first episode?

Did you like, not watch the show at all?

That shouldn't surprise you, the head writer from TLA is the showrunner for Dragon Prince.

i watched the first season when it first came out, forgot about the show, then binged 2 and 3 a few weeks ago. and i regret it.

its hard to pay attention to it because its so fucking bad.

What even are the parallels other than being siblings who are the children of the bad guy?

yes, we get it already. people always say this as if everyone doesnt already know this. it doesn't excuse writing one show to be pseudo fanfiction for another show even if they're both his own show.

One's a doofus with a heart of gold and the other is going slightly crazy

really? his (shallow) character arc is all about getting his approval from his father. He may not be shouting "honor" every god damn episode but why do you have to be so fucking autistic? its the same idea.

If you think this is bad you've missed out on actual bad stuff. The worst you can say is its generic.

zuko was always a psycho who treats his underlings like filth

I still can't get over the way a fucking twitter manager was able to get a show canceled because they series head didn't treat her like a writer.

yes I actually did start straight up skipping through scenes about midway through season 3.

Not cancelled, not yet atleast.

He's going to regret not pointing out that "not literally" goes for the first bit too.

It's fucking April.

Are you a writer if your job is to, you know, manage the twitter account?
Or is there more bullshit to this?

Just yesterday netflix teased season 4 on their facebook page. A social media employee is no executive but if they were planning to can the show i think they'd ensure it not get promoted in any form

I feel pretty bad for aaron in this whole situation because the guy didn't even do anything. at worst he was just a rude boss but my God we all have those.

social media is cancerous

I kinda doubt the twitter stuff got the show cancelled. Netflix is always fickle and the show wasn't a runaway success so renewal was never guaranteed.

>Just yesterday netflix teased season 4 on their facebook page

Screencap and post it. Because there's a huge difference between a legit tease for another season and trying to push one of the many shows in your catalog, not giving a fuck if there'll be more.

Zuko is a mopey bitch with some good hiding under all the angsty, Azula is a pure psycho who loses control at the end. Soren is a goofy jock and Claudia is just a decent person with an arguably evil dad.

Small studio makes show that probably does okay for viewings, but there are "warning signs" that there might be bad PR if it gets renewed.

Netflix doesn't need a whole lot of convincing to cancel something, and it got some convincing.

But that can't stop Aaron to continue it if someone else buys the IP right?
