The joke is the contrast between the appearance she adopts in public and what she actually looks like relaxing at home. She loses a ton of height without the shoes and updo, and her actual face is a lot more childish without the makeup to add emphasis. Also, she likes blankets, teddybears, and her socks don't match - all of which are not actually uncommon things, but make the contrast even more severe.

I thought the joke is that she turned out to be a retarded child like the majority of women who initially seem viable and desirable.

Deathrockers are where the fun people are at. Goth music is better with punk rock than post punk, but only after the first wave of goth when they were still more punk and less hard rock as they became after 1985.

The general point the user was likely trying to make is that similar things influenced the looks of these subcultures, and some of the preceeding subcultures influenced things that would go on to influence the successors, but it's not a linear evolution of the subcultures.

Which is sort of insightful in a historical progress sense, but not that important.

It's not even people on the outside looking in ("retards" as the user put it) that mislabel them, "Mallgoths" and "Edgethots", labels themselves made up by outsiders by the way, likely refer to themselves generically as "Goth" if asked what their vibe is since it's become a shorthand for being into glum, anti-social or occult shit.
