Dana Terrace, isn't she notorious for being hard to work with? That's why most people from Star left? What's the full story on this broad?

I wonder what they actually mean by this. Is she just a bitch to be a bitch or does she just have high standards? Besides being a less than desirable script writer from what we’re seeing you cannot dispute she is a great artist. She might just be a Gordon Ramsay– someone who’s incredibly hardass on standards. Of course that personality type will turn people off but there’s a reason Gordon is so unique. You’d take someone like Sugar, eg., who tries to push for inclusivity and is known for being nice. Her show typically has animation errors, off-model characters, and inconsistencies. She didn’t even put her foot down until Zuke. Compare that to TOH, which probably has the best art style and animation from a cartoon currently. If Dana is pushing for high quality art at the expense of being a bitch, then I consider a necessary sacrifice.

Now, OFC, if she’s just a bitch to be one, then that’s not very nice. But I’ll still watch it regardless.

I never excuse being an asshole for the sake of art, but even if I did, the writing in this show is a fucking mess. If it looked worse but was written better maybe I could see your point, but pretty visuals arent enough to save it.

I’d have to disagree. I’d rather be known as the douchebag who knows what he’s talking about than a nice guy who’s also a hack. To me, pushing out quality goods and services is better than trying to present yourself as nice. People might not like you as a person (a lot of people are adverse to me IRL) but they recognize my abilities. You could be a sweet talker but if what you push out isn’t up to the tasks, then people with standards will just go to the asshole anyways. Why do you think masters of their crafts are always eccentric people?

I seldom get the chance to talk about philosophies. Anybody else has a hot take?

Dana's art is absolutely beautiful but not sure if I could say the same for Owl House. Owl House looks decent but I wouldn't necessary say it's the best looking show of all time. Some scenes are very well animated but so does Thundercats Roar. Amphibia and Glitch Techs are more interesting to look at. I would even argue that Steven Universe Future looks better.

The writing is mediocre. It's painfully clear that this is someone's first show. Even Dana admitted that she struggled writing the script for the pilot because she never wrote scripts before. If the show looks amazing with so-so writing like Motorcity I could forgive it but it's not.

How exactly is the writing a mess?

I watched this cause I swore I had seen a pic on here claiming the PC was bi. Enjoyed the animation, if whatever story it's trying to tell is next to nonexistent with how slow it moved over 10 measly episodes. Hate how this is what constitutes a season now.

Yea, I do agree with both of you on that. If TOH had a more capable script writer (or booted Cotugno from the start), we very well may have been witnessing the greatest cartoon, debatably ever. The writing is more than lackluster, but a few episodes show it can shine. Sadly the first episode and mid season finale weren’t very strong, but once can only hope that after the hiatus it returns stronger than ever. Amphibia does have TOH beat in terms of writing– most of Amphibia’s episodes are just townie filler but still interesting enough to keep us tuned in for where it really matters. Its mid season and season finales were great, while TOH’s, while giving some important exposition, was still boring.

Hopefully Dana can learn from her mistakes. The show really does have potential and the second half of this season might be the saving grace this show needs. One can only hope.

I wouldn't call it redemption arc. Clearly she has a history with Willow and her bullying is more of a defense mechanism than anything. She's bullied at home by her siblings and expected to be the best, to be popular, etc. For all we know she secretly misses her old friend.

You missed the important part. They did literally nothing despite their magic.

It just feels rushed to me. The show replaced her with Boscha as the bully because they developed her too quickly.

Again, Boscha was really only shown to be mean in one episode, and was part of a larger clique of cool kids. Unless she becomes some constant source of strife for Luz in the future, I wouldn't call her a replacement of anything.

Anyone else interested in when Amity goes full good guy? I can't remember the last time a hero had disposable minions as a power.
Probably after Amphibia so sometime in the summer.
I guess we'll have to see after the hiatus. The school should hopefully put the plot on track so Luz can actually learn and we move up from monster hunters and bullies as antagonists to the Empire.

Did not watch it, why is Yas Forums hating it ?
All I know wabout the show is that main character is cute
