The omnitrix is basically death proof and switches Ben to whatever alien he needs to be at the time to save him. In order to protect him from a point blank big bang the omnitrix used a fairly mediocre alien to protect him. So before his brain could even react the watch would probably turn him into Alien X and then he just wins.
