A sequel to A Bug's Life was being made

Ideas for a sequel to A Bug's Life were being thrown around around 2017-2018. One idea involved Flik being called to help rebuild Bug City after the trailer it was situated under was moved, and the area cleaned up. He would ultimately decide to leave Ant Island behind and become a nomad after finding a new purpose inventing tools to help bugs everywhere. Think a hodge podge of the original Cars and Toy Story 4, and it didn't really have an antagonist. It was reworked to be more political like the first film, but none of the pieces were really clicking and eventually the project fell apart. Pic related was a tease. Thought someone might find this interesting.

Best bug Hopper is dead, I didn't find the other characters as interesting anyway

Even if Hopper wasn't killed I still doubt he would've been brought back considering what we know now about Kevin Spacey.

It doesn't need a sequel they're fucking ants.

If this is true then I'm dead ass sad I loved A Bug's Life and always wanted a sequel.

Isn't that a screencap from the first movie?

It is. By "tease" I meant hint.

It is disappointing to me that Pixar and Disney has such a large emphasis on sequels, rehashing and remaking recently. I admire old Pixar (and Disney) a lot because they were so successful at producing family films which are remembered. If there is nobody around making original and memorable family material today it is sad. I feel like people today don't really care about making quality family material because the attitude is either to simply make money or pander to loser adults.

Too bad the coronavirus killed it. Based China.

Antz is still the better movie.

>He would ultimately decide to leave Ant Island behind and become a nomad after finding a new purpose inventing tools to help bugs everywhere.

Bullshit. I'm calling bullshit unless we can get any real proof because this is exactly something that Disney would do after how WIR2, Frozen 2, and TS4.

Thank god it didn't happen. I mean we've already had way too many Pixar sequels. Who the hell is asking for a Bugs Life sequel?

>after how WIR2, Frozen 2, and TS4.
After how Wreck-It Ralph 2, Frozen 2, and Toy Story 4 ended.

The studio, apparently. And anything Pixar makes is more or less guaranteed to be a hit at the box office so there was little to no risk.

>Everyone: PLEASE... a new idea... anything... I'll even watch Soul 10 times
>Pixar: Luxo Jr--the journey and Bugs Life 2

I've got your sequel right here.

no way pixar will tease a project still in the brainstorming phase

Ah yes: good wholesome times at the movies.

>I'll even watch Soul 10 times

No one can survive that.

Sounds bad

Just because it was edgier, it doesn't mean it was better. I'm saying that as someone who liked it

Sequels and rehashes are a symptom of a stagnating company

>what we know now about Kevin Spacey
Wait, what happened to him?

Not everything needs a sequel
I liked Bugs Life as much as the next user, but I'd much rather them do new stories. Also bugs have very short lifespans. It would probably be better if it was a completely new set of bug characters in a totally different location.

He was one of the first to get metoo'd

>Even Pixar is jumping on the sequel train
Did everyone in the entertainment industry just use up all their creativity by the end of 2008 or something? Jesus christ.

He got metoo'd for trying to rape a 14 year old at a party back in the 2000s.

>by the end of 2008 or something?
>“There is no such thing as a new idea. It is impossible. We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope. We give them a turn and they make new and curious combinations. We keep on turning and making new combinations indefinitely; but they are the same old pieces of colored glass that have been in use through all the ages.”

they gotta stop doing this
