Not as much as the Brandon Lee movie adaptation, but it is better than all those comics drawn without O'Barr, the movie sequels, and the TV series.

fpbp

I kinda liked the tv show, but I have a thing for Mark

I've never read the comic, only saw the first movie. Would I like the book?

It's a very good comic still but I think this is one of the rare cases where the movie is actually better.

the comic is a great example of a very early indie comic though. Clearly paved the way for JTHM and Serenity Rose

If he had lived, what roles in the comic movies do you think he would have been a good fit?

I watched the crow recently and found it to be very of its time. So much so that it was hard to watch. A lot of the time I kept thinking - I'd enjoy this alot more if I had watched it when it came out; but now it seems really cheesy without any notion of being cheesy.

Definitely get the recent Special Edition. There's additional chapters O'Barr admits he wasn't skilled enough to pull off the first time around, and they're truly gorgeous. Met the man once, he seemed very sad, and being a teenager at the time I didn't understand why.

Having experienced some personal loss since then, not only can I empathize better, but I'm more thankful to the man for giving me a language I can express that sadness in, and letting me know that I wasn't the first person to feel like this.

Thanks, James.

I kinda see what you're getting at but I also find that a very stupid way of thinking.

not meaning to be rude, but how could you have been young enough to not understand what death was like? Maybe I was different but losing grandparents when I was young taught me it very early.

You'll love the book.

Not really. It's hard to appreciate something when you've seen numerous copies and you know that the crow was built on what was cool at the time. It's hard to take the long hair antagonist seriously after seeing him as the protagonist of The Darkness.

Like I said, that's a very stupid way of thinking.

The Darkness is NOTHING like The Crow

DUDE, the fucken, like, the protagonist has fucken long black hair. So fucken corny, like, pshh.

I have nothing to add to this thread except that I had a coworker who was obsessed with The Crow movie. No Idea if he ever read the comics but his facebook was constantly plastered with The Crow pictures and other stuff. This was a 50+ year old man.

It’s been such a long time since I’ve read it, but I remember the art being damn good. I also remember the protagonists fiancée being pretty hot. Maybe I should find my copy and reread it.

Maybe he wanted to self insert or liked to project vigilante revenge escapism.

You had one job, you mobile poster fag.

>Uncropped borders

If you prefer the movie to the original book you're a fucking tasteless soulless husk of a human, O'Barr put pieces of his soul in that work.

this is so fucking beautiful!

EVERY NIGHT I BURN

>all those comics drawn without O'Barr
He did eventually come back to do a few other Crow comics.

Maybe not the same thing as having your partner killed in a senseless DUI accident user

>naming the 2 indie comics you know because of Invader Zim
>very early indie comic
>first issue came out in 1989
Nigga, there's been a huge world of indie comics for a long fucking time. Have you never even heard of '70s underground comix?

It's OK to be a casual, just don't pretend you know anything about a topic when you don't.

Some 50+ year old guys are real metalheads too, but it's with a spirit of fun. I'd assume he likes it because it's fun & cool, not because he feels edgy.

Proyas is a fan-fucking-tastic director though, and in many ways it's an apples & oranges comparison.
