My friend and I have a bet going that Mario will not have fully voiced lines in the movie and will communicate through gestures like the games, and have other supporting roles voice acted to flesh out the movie, I've heard Charles Martinet's Mario "talk" before in shitty spinoffs and cons and it sounds completely unstructured and unsuited for the big screen, however my friend thinks I'm completely wrong and Mario will be talking

Luigi isn't a different species in Yoshi's Island.

I like this idea, except for Bowser's parents being alive in the end. I'd rather Bowser learn about forgiveness and letting go of his anger.

It's going to be a 2 part story kind of like wrek it ralph. Starts as a "usual" Mario shtick with Peach being capture and Mario saving her from bowser, but them Mario has an life identity crisis, and leave. The kingdoms then turn to shit because of a third party danger (a magikoopa) raise his own army and take over both place. Luigi manages to save Peach and Bowser tags along as they hunt for Mario who is missing. When they find him he's a retired millionaire playing tennis, golf and kart all day. He's convinced to come back but the first attempt fails. They escape in a far away place (yoshi's island), where they find some help with the yoshis tribe and have some training sequence together (Mostly mario, luigi, peach and captain toad they met there).
final quarter of the movie is the taking back battle. the group is united at first, but eventually they scatter and get captured one by one (Mario's defeat is a suspicious fade to black). Villain has a victory speech but it's interrupted so they can do a "who did that?" "it's a me. mario" moment.(he actually got saved last minute by a Yoshi he befriended on the island)
Final battle is generic friendship vs power but shows a decent amount of known faces, with the koopalings being some elite guards and magikoopa using invocation magic to show off many well known faces for a few seconds at a time.
After the victory they get a classic party celebration and some pseudo emotional blanket statement. Last shot is Mario going to sleep.
Post credits is Mario having a nightmare and finding a mysterious red bubbling potion in his room when he wakes up.

>Movie starts with a flashback, Boswer is a child, he is the son of the king Koopa and her queen. One faithful night they are attacked by Mushroom Kingdom which results in Bowser's parents death. Mario child was there, Bowser blame Mario for it and their rivalry begins.
