That scene where he looks up his mothers file was just heartbreaking.. They knew, and they did nothing. And the clerk was the one guy in the whole movie who even came close to relating to him, but he didn't want to share the file because he was afraid of losing his job for exposing their fuck-up.. It was like he had all this momentum, he was either going to kill himself or someone else, and he kept cannon-balling down the system that didn't give a fuck about him. And you know the most fucked up thing is, if he wasn't 'the joker' we wouldn't give a fuck about the character. You'd get all the usual responses, "Guy had it coming, he had a choice, everyone is responsible for their own actions, ect."
pic unrelated cuz too sad, need sgt. fluffers to make me smile.
Yeah the files was underrated as fuck and easily be best part of the movie but people will only mention the stairs dance and interview because those scenes are fun and instantly iconic.

Don't rewatch it, it really falls apart the more you try to digest it and the whole reveal of his gf being already known just makes the scenes with her drag on. Really sad with how derivative the film is considering I relate to the joker being a BPD shitfit at times. But the more I dissect it the more it just makes me wish I hadn't wasted my time. That, and the whole Batman additions just seem unnecessary. Then again, it was only greenlit to get DC an oscar.
Gavin Smith
Oh look, you again pushing this misinformation, no matter how many times people reply to you you just ignore them and repeat you bullshit later, first of all the movie started as a Joker project based on killing Joke backstory, so those are not "Batman additions", they only started to write the script several months after they decided to make a Joker movie. You're this "ladderbro" guy aren't you?
Jaxson Martinez
>story that is supposed to be made up bullshit from Arthur falls apart when you have already heard it before That's the point

It was right in the feels.

at any point, all anybody had to do to stop him from falling was reach out and lend him a helping hand, and no one did.

I mean they knew his adopted mother was abusing him, they KNEW.

Nigger what? Its a garbage fucking movie that steals way too much from Taxi Driver and King of Comedy regardless of if its vaguely based in some comic or not. The movie is garbage outside of what it steals from better works and Phoenix's performance. It just seems weird to me that its padded out with so much fluffy nonsense that would almost be thought provoking but then it slaps you in the face with bullshit like GOTHAM CITY and THE WAYNES that just destroy the illusion unless you're already just an obsessive batfag.
t. DCuck Learn to spellcheck before you accuse others of being low IQ for not liking a derivative capeshit film.

Are you female? Being a male with BPD is fucking cursed because women always leave you, they interpret the symptoms as being the opposite of masculinity. I'd honestly say we're only "rare" because we mostly kill ourselves

That still happens IRL too user. I've seen it so many times growing up in white trash areas

Most people think I'm gay and it doesn't help that most of my best friends are all gay men and at this point I don't even know if I am myself since I'm just so used to being flirty for the validation and because I spent most of my highschool and college years in a co-dependent relationship with a girl that was diagnosed as bipolar and I'm just a flirty cunt. I'm one year sober after kicking a cocaine addiction started because I almost killed myself but pussied out of it and went to self-medication.
Nathan Clark
>And you know the most fucked up thing is, if he wasn't 'the joker' we wouldn't give a fuck about the character. I don't know about you but personally I would care more if he wasn't the joker
Jonathan Rodriguez
The Nolan trilogy (accidentally) was about the technocrats' takeover, their failure to establish the next generation, their loss of control over their own systems, them checking out completely. The Joker is about standing on the brink between nihilism and social reform and hurling into the former.
Juan Stewart
>I'm one year sober good for you. stick with it user.
Alexander Gomez
>he Joker is about standing on the brink between nihilism and social reform and hurling into the former. the whole point was that he didn't have a choice. he was going to hurt himself or he was going to hurt somebody else and there wasn't anything he could do to stop it.
Wyatt Anderson
anybody else recognize the Pagliotti rose dance?
Mason Long
no you wouldn't. he would just be 'some guy'. it'd be an indy arthouse flick that gets thrown in the dumpster with all the rest of the sundance trash. people would be dismissive because they wouldn't empathize with him.
Nolan Reyes
This movie made me fucking horrified over the concept of schizophrenia, no imaginary monsters or imaginary worlds, just you not being able to tell what the fuck is going on not even being able to predict your own actions.
Blake Cook
Yes I would, because they decided to call this the joker while saying it's based on the comic book character then I go into the movie expecting there to be elements of the joker.
Only to then find out that this is not the joker, there is nothing about this guy that is the joker. They couldn't even get the colo of his costume right, so whatever sympathy the movie wants me to have to the guy is replaced with annoyance because I keep asking "But why is this called joker".
Then it's a good thing the movie doesn't have a accurate portrayal of schizophrenia
Elijah Rodriguez
>Batman is the one franchise in DC that can be deconstructed enough to be turned into Oscar bait You do notice that they absolutely minimized the relationship with the Batman universe right?
Good, MCU Thanos was even less accurate than the Joker, in fact he was 0% like comic Thanos, fucking Ozymandias rip off wearing Darkseid clothes.
Adrian Wood
>being better than a super shitty movie like Infinity War = being a good movie ?????
Gabriel Lee
Don't fall for it, it's a lie. The entire story is fake, just like all Joker origin stories, he likes to make up sad backstories for himself, but they're not true.
Notice how the movie starts with the social worker asking him about his time at Arkham, but later on we find out that he was never in Arkham. Even if we assume that everything else is real and that's the only lie, it means he was being medicated wrongly, which causes yet more neurological damage and makes him get even worse.
Nathan Morgan
Nobody cares. If you don't have any actual discussion to contribute, go shitpost on Yas Forums. Where does it say in the film that he has this? did I miss it? IIRC, his obsession with the waynes was instilled into him by his mother, who was a crazy codependent bitch with him. So, he pursues that end. The scenes with his supposed girlfriend and the crap after he climbs into the fridge can be easily framed as delusions/escapist day dreams. Am I wrong on this or did I miss something hinting at this?
