Is Anna going to be a good queen? Is there any quality that makes her an ideal leader? Also let's discuss Frozen II and what direction the franchise should go in the inevitable Frozen III.
Frozen Discussion: Ahto-Hell with Queen Anna
makes me mad that anna became queen, i like her better as a princess
I wrote this & waited for a new Frozen thread to post it.
>The writers of Frozen II tried to personify the two protagonists, Elsa & Anna, as two different genres of folklore. Elsa was considered a mythic character for her superhuman powers & her greater sense of responsibility to her people. Anna was labeled as the paragon of fairytale heroes for being a human that overcomes beings with greater powers than her. I disagree with this assessment of the characters because their definitions for myths & fairytales is inaccurate. Myths often explain the natural world when people did not have an explanation for certain phenomena. Many fairytales do not have happy endings.
Second part. I didn't think my thought was that long, but apparently it exceeded the 2000 character limit.
>Rather, I think a more apt & easier to understand dichotomy between the two protagonists is the conflict between realism & idealism. Elsa is the realist that discerns everything that could be bad while Anna is the idealist whose optimism blinds her from the bad. Serious Elsa has always been in a position where cynicism was necessary to understand the gravity of her powers, while bubbly Anna has always lived in her own bubble that has never been pushed enough to pop. Frozen II ended with the sisters switching environments. Realist Elsa now lives in a fantastical world where her powers are necessary for her way of life while Anna now wears the heavy crown. Frozen III should explore how each girl is adapting to their new positions of leadership. Living in a fantasy is not realistic. Elsa may be "free" now, but freeing oneself of the bonds that ground one can make one unstable. She doesn't really have a purpose beyond the vague "protect the Enchanted Forest". When one does not have a purpose, they are likely to get lost, become depressed, or act recklessly. It is not a sustainable lifestyle for most folk. Elsa needs stability as a support system. Meanwhile, Anna is not going to fare well in her new position of leadership. Anna's queenly ensemble in the finale of Frozen II could be a forewarning for the strict, grim future awaiting her. Anna may be stated to be a loving individual, but ruling is not loving. Rulers have to be able to make decisions that are not popular & may even harm someone. Anna doesn't have the heart to make such decisions. She probably doesn't have the stomach to handle criticism either. When you compound Anna's tendency to make poor choices with lack of foresight, Anna's reign would need an unrealistic amount of fortune to survive the first year, let alone the decade.
>Is there any quality that makes her an ideal leader?
Yes, she’s related by blood to the previous leaders. For that reason alone, she is uniquely qualified to bear the heavy burden of ruling Arendelle. As far as the townsfolk are concerned, it’s her birthright, and there’s no point thinking beyond that.
Myths and fairytales are similar things, yet incompatible, so I’m glad Elsa and Anna are separated so they can fully shine.
Realist Elsa is no longer dragging down Anna with the details. Airheaded Anna is no longer holding Elsa back from her important destiny. It’s a happy ending for everyone.
Frozen III should reintroduce the characters of Gerda and Kai and Elsa as a villain thus coming full circle and making a faithful adaptation

Anna has no smug personality like Rapunzel to handle the queen's job. Also Kristoff is a dud.
Big fat bait is bait
There's something very particular about Anna's eyes during the film and I can't quite put my finger on it.
I don't know if it's the pupils' shading or what but she looks pretty dead inside during some shots, like when she's looking at the crystals at the end of Into the Unknown, when she's talking to Elsa after her fight with Bruni, when they're looking at their parents' ship and during most of the last scene.
Not trying to meme about her being dead inside, it's something visual that kind of bothers me.
princesses are just cuter than queens. even if its the same girl. i prefer Rapunzel as a princess too.
OP pic has her faking a smile. She shouldn't be smiling so hard the bags under her eyes rise. It's not genuine. Her eyebrows also read as slightly concerned/humbled. She's fucking terrified.
Cringe.
So she’s nervous in front of crowds, it doesn’t mean she’s doomed to fail
When the hell has Anna ever been nervous in front of anyone? This is hardly the first time she's faced a crowd in a scene before. She certainly wasn't nervous when she triggered Elsapocalypse 2013.
The play a ton with pupils' reflections during the movie, they turn it on and off depending on distance, my guess is those particulars shots are in the sweet spot, the reflections are turned off or toned down but the camera is close enough for it to be noticeable and looks weird if you notice it.
Facing a crowd as Queen is different, and pretending otherwise is just being obtuse. She’s not the spare anymore. The people are looking at her, not past her.
>animation supervisor note:
>"make her look happy, but also a bit apprehensive to take on new responsibilities"
thats it.
>Is Anna going to be a good queen?
Yes. The writers say so.
>Is there any quality that makes her an ideal leader?
Yes, the writers like her.
Shouldn't the writers, working for Disney and all, be writing to maximize profits i.e. incorporating Elsa more into stories since she is the one carrying the franchise?
But she's that "modern" character who thinks awkward is a gender and talks to paintings. Elsa is the one who knows how to talk to nobles.
Well, now the nobles have to learn how to talk to Anna, unless they think they can influence her through her sister.
I think the writers should be doing lots of things, but right now we’re getting a solid month of Olaf
>lobbyists go to the forest to talk to someone who speaks their language
>she has Gale set their pants on fire if they lie to her

And any schemers who may think beyond that will have to consider Elsa's reaction to whatever they try.
It seems more likely that they will think that Anna is easier to manipulate than Elsa.
He's like the minions, nobody who talks about the franchise likes him but he gets tons of merchandising
