I think it's really cool how the main character is unreliable and doesn't actually understand what's going on, and in her pessimistic attitude, she ends up being really mean to her best friend. It's also pretty well executed, they do say it rather clearly later but they use good techniques to show it in less blatant ways earlier.

Another fanime I'm a fan of is Senpai Club. It's extremely inspiring to see what they're been able to do. To actually go and learn Japanese for your fanime, and they also made catchy original opening themes and have good animation. And most comedy fanime are just joking about fanime, but this one is actually joking about anime itself while still being a love letter to the medium. The 80s style in some of the episodes was also great.
This really shows what level of quality you can accomplish.

Personally not a huge fan of this compared to the older episodes, it's just boring senpai stuff, and doesn't have the good romance in the last episodes either. It's impossible for the creator to do anything different though because the female voice actor is no longer a part of the team.

I've never been deeply involved with the fanime community or been following things that closely, but when I look for newer stuff on Youtube the artstyle seems to be inspired by Tumblr rather than anime, which I find disappointing. The Tumblr artstyle is disgusting, I'd much rather have anime inspired style drawn in Paint.

I think it was made by a real musician in Japan that let them use the song rather than being made by them themselves.
Oh, another really impressive thing with Senpai Club that shows what can be accomplish is that part of it actually got released on DVD in Japan, and it also got some merch sold in Japan.
