It was a joint, a flick at most
It was great for a (pre)sequel
It was an okay movie about characters that have nothing to do with the characters in Monster Inc
>nothing to do with the characters in Monster Inc
What
Mike, Sulley and Randall's university experience was what drove them to their roles Monsters Inc. There was also the brief backstory for the Abominable Snowman. Also characters from Monsters Inc but in teenager form are scattered in easter egg fashion throughout the campus, such as the DJ guy.
Epic scene, the atmosphere is crafted perfectly. Also surprised the goth girl monster doesn't get posted about on Yas Forums
It was a good film. If this were a standalone film with no context of the original, more people would hold it in positive regard.
Good message, quality animation, and it helps build Monstropolis a little more than the original, which is nice.
I think the tropes and content of SU had better to be put into 2-3 flashback episodes for a TV series. It seems quite not so much for a movie.
It made over 700 million dollars and got decent reviews. Clearly there was enough content and story to make a solid full feature film
>quality animation
Interesting context on Wikipedia
>Monsters University is the first Pixar film that used global illumination, a new lighting system introduced as part of the overhaul of the rendering system used since the first Toy Story film. In the planning stage of the film, director of photography, Jean-Claude Kalache, asked "What if we made these lights just work?" Before the new system, artists had to build reflections and shadows manually, which became increasingly complex as the models and the setups became more technologically advanced. The new lighting system uses path tracing, a technique that imitates the behaviour of the light in the real world; this automatized the process, delivered more realism, produced soft shadows, and let the artist spend more time on models and complex scenes – some of which contained thousands of light sources.
>For research, the filmmakers visited several colleges in the U.S., including Harvard University, Stanford University, UC Berkeley, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, observing college architecture, student life, Greek organizations, and the teaching methods of professors and faculty. To research fraternity life, which is central to the film, many of the film's producers spent several weeks at a fraternity house. Researchers also attended a "Bonfire Rally" at Berkeley in anticipation of the Big Game, a rivalry football game between the university and Stanford.
>ywn be inspiration for Pixar flick
I feel like it was a good but a bit by the numbers prequel/sequel story with some good lessons to teach. Story was decent, art direction was pretty great but that's a given, overall pretty good, would re-watch .
Claire was pretty fotm around the time the movie came out years back. I feel like she'd be more popular if the movie was better received overall, that, and she didn't get much screen time. A lot of the monster designs were pretty great honestly, and Claire is still waifu for me.
>decent reviews
I won't say it's on bottom tier of Pixar's production, but its storyline is just forgettable and like a TV special of college life but in theatrical movie budget.
>have dream
>try real hard to fulfill it via the expected means of doing so
>fail
>have to fulfill dream via other methods
Fucking absolute awesome message. Too bad it was literally only a 20 second montage at the end.
Why does Mike have braces if bad teeth are preferable for monsters?
she cute
>be me
>watch monsters inc when it came out
>fall in love with billy crystal green eyeball dude
>no passable erotica for years
>suddenly mike wazowski becomes big meme
>meme community starts mass producing "ironic" sexy mike porn

As someone lucky enough to have never seen Mike Wazowski r34, the penis goes where exactly? Directly under his mouth?
>As someone lucky enough to have never seen Mike Wazowski r34
>lucky
you are missing out bro
>Directly under his mouth?
depends. most pics change his anatomy (sometimes a lot like straight up furry or human versions, sometimes just slightly to give him a little more body to support his genitals) but if you wanna be accurate to the original works, yeah pretty much under his mouth. most pics where theyre trying to keep it accurate to the movies will just have him bottoming or subbing instead so theres no need to give him a dick
I really like the direction this thread took
i just love him ok
>"What if we made these lights just work?"
If the idea was so obvious, why hadn't they done it before? MU came out in like 2013
I wish I had gone to a top-tier school. It seems like it would have been a great experience.
>in anticipation of the Big Game
You mean it's actually real and isn't just a cliche used to guilt-trip deadbeat dads in family comedies?
faggot
The fuck
imagine having no taste
People bitch that it's too generic and just like every other college movie. Forgetting that the target audience is kids who've never seen all those cliches before.
Based
I love seeing this stuff before it's complete. It's fascinating, especially because I have no idea how this shit works so it's like magic to me
Kek
Zoomers gonna zoom
They're not wrong. It gives off early Playstation vibes
>It gives off early Playstation vibes
needs more polygons desu
That's too early. Fast forward to 2004-ish
I'm not seeing the cliches at all other than the underdog thing
>monster braces work opposite to human braces and bend straight teeth making them crooked
>Remake game with modern day advanced technology
>Somehow looks shittier and is completely drained of soul that made the original charming
Goes for the show as well. Will they ever put Spongebob out of his misery
Is Monsters at Work the first Pixar's movie spin-off tv series with canon timeline?
I think so, if that Buzz Lightyear cartoon doesn't count.
>guy from that cloverfield godzilla found footage movie is voicing the main character in MaW
It sounds like it'll be an interesting watch anyway
When the fuck are we going to hear more about that? I’m way more excited for that than I was for Mandalorean
oh god those feet
i wanna rub them bros
>Also surprised the goth girl monster doesn't get posted about on Yas Forums
I want to fuck that thing
But why
You know, sometimes I feel ashamed about being a waifufag. Sometimes I feel like my choice in waifus are cringe and I'm a faggot for loving them. But now I can sit here, satisfied in that at least I don't want to fuck Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc.
It wasn't. The only good part was the ending.
How can such a positive character make me hate myself so much
because he's smart, sexy and cute all at the same time. anyone who says they dont want a mike wazowski bf is lying
cool story bro
Don a cute. I'm glad they got rid of the green skin in the final product
when i went to college half of my class were sad adults who needed to get back in the market, it's funny how of all of the bazzlions of college movies there is only two of them that talk about this and they are both disney sequels
Speaking of Don, what the fuck was the Principals problem? All the Oozma Kappa guys except for the purple hippie were way less scary than Mike
