Hi! Can you tell me the best comic to buy a 9 year old?
Hi! Can you tell me the best comic to buy a 9 year old?
Anything by Ennis.
So like "Dicks: End of Time #1–6"?
Bone.
It's like if Mickey, Donald, and Goofy fell into Lord of the Rings.
Seconding Bone. I'd also recommend Tintin or Asterix.
Archie comics
What happens with the people with the guns oppress the free press?
Im also going to recommend Bone. Also read it yourself, its really just a fantastic comic that reads well young and old.
What kind of stories does the kid like?
This image is old, so there's plenty not on here that people can recommend.
I got this for my nephew. When I bought it the cashier told me her bought the same one for his niece
Then they are communists, and to also be shot.
also
>modern press
>free
Its the same 3 megacorps pushing stories with preconceived narratives regardless of facts.
It always struck me as funny when my American History textbook started talking about "yellow journalism" as if it was a thing of the past.
He's reading hobbit now. Just finished Harry potter series
Ok I'll look at Bone. Thanks!
That is the problem in most counties isn't it.
That list is long! Is there just two maybe?
Er, got what?
Also can't go wrong with Snoopy
I forgot image
then you throw their tea into the local marina
Well 6 companies. Pic related
Seems young?
Seems old?
No one is too old for Peanuts. I recommend Calvin and Hobbes.
All-Star Batman and Robin
No one is too young for Gigantic Asses. I recommend Oh Joy, Sex Toy.
>sherman anti-what act!?
God fuck our cuckold government
This is down to 4, viacom and CBS are one now and Fox and Disney are now one. Or I guess 5 with newscorp losing a significant amount of power since they still have their sports and some news arms.
Teen titans go
You have to buy a big book. Kids get bored a lot faster. So if you get him a bid ass book he'll flip through it and might find some he likes.Said too
Groo is always good
Checked! Goodness 2019 was quite the year.
Oh yeah Calvin and Hobbes. But we are writing and I was especially looking for superhero stories to give him ideas. (His story, Tsunami vs. The French Metabolism)
Avoid Marvel. At least currently. You don't need political messages shoving themselves into books.
Boku no Pico
Buy a Scrooge McDuck collection.
Or Bone. Bone is good for all ages.
It's never too early to teach your kid about cow tools.
So this is a specific book my nephew asked for
Depending on what he's willing to read you might want to pick up a Marvel Essential volume reprinting stuff from the 60s or 70s. They're black and white on cheap paper, so they collect about 30 issues for $15. The lack of color and being dated might turn him off, but I got into comics with those when I was about 12.
If that doesn't work, than pretty much anything from the Marvel Adventures line is good.
Life in Hell is good for an older kid you want to make realize the sham of a society they live in at an early age.
>Its the same 3 megacorps pushing stories with preconceived narratives regardless of facts.
You may not like it, but that's what freedom looks like under capitalism. No one is preventing new news companies from emerging and it's easier for that to happen than ever before, but there's not enough demand. You can't call other people communist and then complain when the free market goes in a direction you don't like.
>>people like Rogan get more views than CNN, FOX, MSNBC, etc.
>>no demand
Then why doesn't Rogan start a cable news company?
Why should he?
If your image is anything to go by, just have the kid read the lawcomic for free.
>>directed by
>free press
In America? Did you mean the corporation who own the media?
Looks pretty based, gonna have to give this one a read.
Corporate media is not The Press
Fox still exists; Disney only bought assets. That's why they changed the name of 20th Century Fox to just 20th Century.
Stanley and His Monster
>Corporate media is not The Press
Let me guess...Arts or Liberal dregree?
California or NYC?
Money? To promulgate the "Truth" to the masses? Since you are comparing Rogan to news networks, you apparently think his podcast serves some of the same purposes as traditional news sources, but better, so if he can compete there's no reason not to scale.
When people are free, they tend to band together or collude, since monopolies are more profitable than competition. So the corporate press is the free press
He already gets better numbers and can do what he wants.
That implies that the only journalism is traditional sources, and that's no longer true
You lick some rare gems kiddo...
Joe Exotic is getting better numbers right now than any of them. What's your point? Of course, the Joe Rogan podcast isn't a news program, it's a talk show, so starting a news organization wouldn't really be in his wheelhouse, but the fact that he or someone like him hasn't emerged to challenge "the establishment" in a meaningful way indicates that there is insufficient demand to support such an enterprise. That's how capitalism works.
>That implies
No it doesn't. That's simply the way of the world. There are other sources in the free press, and if they are successful then they will become corporate press and start playing the game, but corporate media is in no way "unfree" simply because it is incorporated. Things like the BBC or RT are arguably not free press, since they are run by the governments in their respective countries, but in this country the only thing suppressing the press is the free market.
You're a horse of a different color sonny
Corporate Press isn't about news anymore anyway. But you're retarded and Im out
You don't have a substantive argument, so you resort to childish name calling. What a surprise.
I'm going to read it first Yas Forums(nel). I'm not that dumb.
you are literally posting on a Bhutanese wool sweater knitting board, you cannot escape the autism.
lol enjoy getting mad
we were and always will be a Mongolian basket weaving forum
I've been on Yas Forums for long enough to be well and done with getting triggered.
