The world all around is barely holding to sanity inside quarantine thanks to the massive amount of media they can consume.
Imagine if there were no movies, no games, no nothing.
There would be worldwide riots going on rn

Hell yeah. Can't wait for their next movie in 2027!

BASED Laika

The world didn't need Missing Link. but good on that Nike money.

The romans coined the phrase "panem et circenses" for a reason user.
Give people enough distractions and keep them fed, and the weak will revel in petty distraction and hedonism.

It’s a good thing, no doubt. But like anything with Laika, it’s easier to do things when your bankrolled by your billionaire dada.

Based, but it's not surprising since they're on Phil Knights infinite money.

Based Laika.

Travis Knight please do more Transformers movies when this is all over.

Based

Cant they get some actual writers for their movies tho?

Well it's not like the amount of revenue coming in ever mattered for them

Nike has blacks and dog haters buying their sweat shop shit, so Laika is safe. I wish my dad was rich enough to let me make my own production studio and make movies that bomb harder than Israel on innocent people.

Finally, Laika will have an Oscar winner.

Oh, wait, "Onward" still came out this year. Fuck.

They have nike's money and probably knight Sr. uses it as a tax deduction, so nobody cares

Nike money makes things happen.
>t. Beavertonfag

Box Trolls 2 please

If the power grid goes down, that may very well be a reality.

Good for them.

Dog haters?

>Imagine if there were no movies, no games, no nothing.
Why would a halt in current-day production cause over a hundred years worth of movies, TV shows, comics, cartoons, radio shows, podcasts, and so on to suddenly disappear?

>Yas Forums shitposters and mouse shills trying to dunk on Laika for keeping stop-motion alive to deflect from their kike ceo that shut down the 2D animation department based on two garbage movies released at financially retarded times
Laika at the very least is visually interesting even if their films aren't the strongest. I'd rather watch a laika film these days over yet another CGI shitshow with even worse writing.

Nike sponsors Michael Vick who didn't face any penalties for dog fighting, torture, and murder. He'd pick dogs up and slam them against the floor, fed his neighbors pets to his starving dogs, tied them to trees and beat them, drown them with his bare hands in his pool, tie them up to car batteries, drag them behind his cars. Basically anything you can think off to hurt a dog and he did it.

I mean, it's a vanity project bankrolled by Nike™, so it's really about how the world will need sneakers. But yeah good on those artists who've always been dependant on patronage.

You're underestimating how lazy and stupid we are.

You know bad shit has happened before, right? And people still made stuff afterwards?

Why does this goblina appeal to me so much?

You adore filthy micks

>whatabout
Slow motion is neat but really in a time of economic crisis a business that runs at a loss because they always have shouldn't be championned as the fairest, especially when it's bankrolled by a parent bisness that literally employs kids to saw shoes and balls.
>I'd rather watch a laika film these days over yet another CGI
You do't mean that.

No electricity, no means to enjoy any of that. And people still need to maintain the power plants to keep that electricity going.

Books exist, user

And disney churns out merchandise through chinese slave labor as well, without even pretending to be about art these days.
Whats your point?
And I said it, so I mean it, dumbass.

Yes. However, when that bad stuff happens, the face of the globe changes afterwards. Who knows what this pandemic will spark.

people don't handwrite books user, and books don't print themselves user, and they sure don't get up and walk to bookstores around the world

Good on them, and not without practical benefits. This means once things return to normal, they can transition back to full production much faster than those who've completely shut down.

Your post wasn't about no electricity. It was about no movies, games, computer, TV.

If there was a country-wide blackout, there'd be a lot more pressing matters than people whining because they can't watch their fucking children's cartoon.

Do we have any hints on what their next project is supposed to be?

My point is that regardless of artistic value, Disney supports the livelihood of tens of thousands of people by being financially viable, while Laika doesn't. While I admire people who value art and who can bankroll some dude's movie to further the medium, there's no intrinsic value in having a business that loses money being willing to keep losing money in a time of crisis.

I love Laika as a company and want to support them, it's just a shame that their movies keep getting worse.

Also fucking hell that's not even what I mean, We are not talking about fucking DIsney here you faggot, saying I'm not impressed in some rich dude continuing to bankroll his vanity project doesn't mean I support the rat, ffs, how did I even get caught up in that dumb narrative.

>Yes goy, we're the ones that make the money not you
The ultimate cuck mindset

>how DARE this company continue to pay its employees!
A revenue stream is a revenue stream.

I'd like to see them adapt a Discworld novel

One, how do you know if Laika isn't financially viable?
Two, being financially viable doesn't guarantee that the profits are distributed in a fair and rational way.

No the workforce is the essential creator of money. Laika doesn't create any money so who creates the literal loss of money doesn't matter.

>One, how do you know if Laika isn't financially viable?
Budgets and box office numbers.
>Two, being financially viable doesn't guarantee that the profits are distributed in a fair and rational way.
That is correct.

>Budgets and box office numbers.
You have no idea what their overhead is, how much they earn in secondary markets like licensing and bluray sales, various credits and incentives they may have received from government, and how efficient their operation is overall.

You're making overly negative speculations in a thread about a company doing some actual good for its employees. What's your motive?

Breh it's Laika. They aren't making tens of millions off that shit.
My motive is to say that PR is PR. Disney literally did the same stunt.

>They aren't making tens of millions off that shit.
Which makes this a more magnanimous move on their part than if Disney did it. It's harder on Laika, but they're choosing to do the right thing.
>My motive is to say that PR is PR
What a banal observation.

Then gee, I guess "company in no danger of going under continues ot pay its employees" is banal too.

>It's harder on Laika
Nigger, NIKE funds Laika. People still need shoes last I checked.

>Disney supports the livelihood of tens of thousands of people by being financially viable
They shut down their parks due to the pandemic. Thats already a couple thousand out of a job.
Not to mention what cuts they're going to make to their other divisions just to stumble through this.
I don't understand why you're focusing on "financial viability" and the fact that disney employs thousands of people when Laika does the same.
you sound like a moron trying to shit on laika because "dude lol not muh preferred brand".
Just like I'm not impressed with some gigantic media corporation thats able to borrow enough money to create a near monopoly to keep itself afloat.
Who gives a shit? they artistically bankrupt and have shitty practices.
Why are you focused on their "financial viability" unless you have some kind of narrative to push?
Or are you just a senseless idiot wanting to throw in your meaningless two bits?

Laika needs better storytellers.

Probably a pandemic button.

Those Nike bucks are worth something, finally

Funny how a guy with no need for financial gain made the one good Transformers movie. Really makes you think.

Good for them

>The world will need storytellers
I'm glad this shit studio keeps failing.

Extremely based post

yeah, but when will Laika hire some GOOD writers?!
