I found the pilot funny cos the gun dude is literally Mike Stoklasa. If we are talking about the main characters, red dude and yellow "straight" man are fine

the main characters are fine but I'm curious as to how future episodes will play out, since the "formula" means there's always going to be a third tag-along character and whether or not they'll swap out Pim or Charlie for Alan sometimes

Every character was used for the right amount. Too much of the optimistic guy, or the basic sister, or the thing that talks gibberish, or the guy in the wall, or any of the characters would have been bad, but they found the right balance to make each of these characters fun without overstaying the joke.

The difference is in the intention user. Smiling Friends uses that monologue to make you laugh. Rick and Morty used it to try and be serious which ironically makes it a funnier watch desu. Dan Harmon trying to rationalize being a walking piece of trash as being 2deep4us is fucking hysterical to me

Pim's obviously very shallow as a person, so it's not surprising that entry level existential shit breaks him. I'd agree with you if Charlie also had a "woah" reaction but he didn't really care

It's not bad, but some technical aspects left me kinda lukewarm about it, especially the audio
It sounds like every voicetrack was recorded in a different studio with different equipment and then patched together with very little post production, it kinda sounds like shit
And I didn't really like the change in the animation in the party scene, if it was more consistently inconsistent throughout the length of the pilot I would have liked it more, but as a one off gag it felt kinda out of place and not that funny
