I'm looking forward to Bastion getting BTFO. Sessine forcing Bastion to construct his own replacement out of everything he sought to triumph over in Alderode personified (a god drunk patriot who obeyed the caste system and believed in the government enough to attempt reforms) is nothing less than what the nutless coward deserves.

The double irony is that despite Sessine / Ilganyag sharing her wisdom to bring humans forward, her favorite example of their species ultimately did not come from the Black Tongues who sacrificed so much for her sake, but from a total outsider.

Yeah, she's basically declared all the Black Tongues a failure, INCLUDING Bastion. She just still finds Bastion useful so she's still jerking him a long for a little longer.

I really like this idea of man's patron deity not being their creator, but their foster mother. Though really, her nurturing of humankind began so early that she did essentially create humans as a species, literally all of human civilization is a result of her influence.

The black tongues are her bitches, and to join you have to go full reverse Mason Lodge and be a total atheist. So it's pretty clear that, to them, she focuses on the idea that none of the human religions in this world are correct. Yet with Duane she seems keen to reinforce his perception of reality. Not explicitly, but every reference to the before times is phrased to line up with Duane's beliefs. Creators and Ssael's historical works and the nature of the khert and the human condition as Duane, a devout Ssaelit, believes.

The nature of the khert is such that someone must have made it, but it's fairly clear that the Gefendur tradition, and the Ssaelism that sprouts off from it, aren't correct in their depictions of the creation of the world and humanity's place in it. She does drop some interesting tidbits here, if they're true. She describes her imprisonment as happening BEFORE humanity really existed, which would be an intriguing order of events. Someone must have shut her in the khert then, someone predating humanity. Perhaps other Senet beasts. Perhaps other individuals of her Senet Beast race.

I don't think so. She says she nurtured humanity's imaginations after they became sapient, then that afterwards she was trapped in the Khert, after which she founded the Black Tongues.

in gnosticism the demiurge is capable of creation, but was created by the same thing that made material universe. Something like the relationship between Morgoth and Illuvatar in the Silmarillion
