I just got done watching S1 of Amphibia. Pretty fun and I dig the writing a lot. I'm looking forward to S2 this coming summer. To those of you that have watched it, what did you think of it?

Amphibia is Disney's best cartoon post-Gravity Falls era, and it shows how important it is to have a concise character story plotted out rather than just working off a premise (looking at you, Owl House).

I like it too and I'm not exactly sure why. If someone told me it was boring and babyish I couldn't really argue with them. But something about it is really likeable. I like most the characters and definitely don't hate any. I will say the world is really cool. It has kind of like a toned down dark fantasy vibe.

kinda agree, weirdest thing is that they are supposed to live in a medevalish village but for some reason know what a disco is ect. Also in my oppinion the village doesn't look "froggish" enough, the concept art showed some cool stuff like swamp bars, a sewer system also the mayors palace was built underwater

It's proportional. Anne's butt is only "big" when you're a three foot tall frog person, but then every part of her would be big.

They might just gloss over it and do a "x months later" ending like they did for Tulip in Infinity Train.
I'm going to guess Grime had only recently been promoted, and before he had been something more like a sergeant managing a squad that would be easier to intimidate into obedience/competence than an entire towers worth of toads where he can't be everywhere at once.
Grimes complained that the toads had "gone soft" in Toad Tower, so they might have been more competent either because they was a more pressing threat from the frogs or rival factions at the time, or possibly because whoever was running Toad Tower before Grimes had better leadership skills than him.

It's good. I was looking at Disney's offerings last year and thinking that Amphibia might be the only one that I'd find okay. But it really blew past that. Watching Anne start as a selfish outcast and slowly become a core member of a colourful town really had me excited to watch each episode as they came out.

Continuity is fashionable these days but most of the progression in Amphibia's story is character-based which gives it a lighter touch that stops episodes that don't overtly change the status quo from seeming like wastes of time or ginning up expectations too high for the rare episode that does. Some other recent shows are pretty bad at this.
