Disney is coming up with another Gravity Falls book and apparently Hirsch wasn’t behind it. Do you think he’s serious or just pretending like he has no idea what’s going on to spur some drama or whatever? Idk seems pretty serious to me...
But how shitty do you think this book will be? Can’t be any better than the actual journal that came out and the first Dipper and Mabel guide
never watched this show and dont care but disney owns the IP, didn't anyone tell this dumb faggot that? they can do whatever they want and he has zero right to complain about it.
Landon Phillips
Why are people still hating on him? Is it because the show was cut too short? Because I totally understand that.
Like I get why he dropped off because he was exhausted but in reality he could have taken a hiatus or something. If Disney would let him. Isn’t that the point of taking one? To have more time to work on things? Or was Sugar just dickkng around when she would pull that with Steven universe?
Daniel Cruz
I was thinking the same thing, he had to have known. But didn’t think how it could bite him in the ass later. Especially with a company like Disney. I wonder how this show would have gone if Cartoon Network greenlit it
Joshua Cook
you idiots, read
Cameron Mitchell
>non-canon What is canon nowadays?
Jayden Edwards
I read it, and who cares? why should disney care at all if it "disheartens" him that they make content for a product that they own? he is whining and has no right to do so. shouldn't have sold his shit to Disney. and "non-canon"? cope. its Disney sanctioned so its canon.
Nathan Russell
He's a major asshole to his fans and has mental breakdowns over the stupidest shit
Matthew Nguyen
He is still acting surprised for something so obvious.
Camden Myers
>fans replying with the declaration that they're not buying the book because Hirsch didn't write it kek
Nicholas Peterson
This is why it's disheartened. Disney doesn't care about art anymore, just sales and products, and the Star Wars, Disney Remakes and this are the prime examples. How can you show your own creativity to the world when the company you work for doesn't appreciate it.
Luis Morris
Do we know who's writing it instead of Hirsch? Are they any good?
Nicholas Harris
I'm posting this on Pewds reddit, they'll be hyped.
Aiden Cox
>make thing knowing Disney owns it >leave knowing Disney is Disney and will whore out its rotten corpse long after you're gone >still be mad when they do it
Owen Brown
>Why are people still hating on him? Because the retard shat that second part of season two. Which was, in case you can't understand my subtle reference, shit.
Ian Parker
Hirsch was like 23 and could have gotten more seasons and a movie if he wanted with the property, but was lazy and got butthurt that fans guessed his SUPER COOL PLOT TWIST before the big reveal so he rushjobbed the second season.
Blake Lewis
At least with Sugar and SU - None of them knew at any time what the schedule was or intended to be. They thought the first episode with Lapis would be their last one, because CN hadn't even suggested they were going to produce more episode.
Then, after it became popular, none of them still had no idea what was going on. Some of the Steven Bombs weren't planned, so they felt weird with non-important episodes being toted as big deals, and some of the episodes they produced to come out rapidly had huge hiatuses in between, despite episodes being done. Don't get me wrong, a lot of the SU crew did waste time and some crew members didn't even care what Sugar wanted the show to be, but it's schedule isn't necessarily Sugar's fault. She would constantly get in fights with execs, both over the content she wanted in the show and how they treated the show and their employees - which she admits did have some impact on production, but she used that time to write new songs and figure out new characters for the show.
As for Hirsch - He kept promising three seasons and a movie, then got 'burnt out' 1/3rd through the second season, despite it taking years to air the first season alone. Then he shortchanged everyone with the content he left in, and applauded himself for how much care he had for his show while complaining the network didn't let him have his 'vision' (which was more outdated Pop-Culture References and more body-horror) since Disney wanted the show to appeal to kids and wouldn't give him free reign. Like, he wanted a Labyrinth parody, which is fine and Regular Show did it, but he wasn't doing anything with it like they did, he just wanted Mabel to lust over Bowie and re-hash the movie's plot, and Disney said no.
Should Disney not use their vintage properties anymore for anything because the creators are dead? Because Disney was doing that in the 50s It sucks things can be taken from you but that's corporate, that's what you signed up for
Christopher Ortiz
Some clarification from @TheMysteryofGF, who broke the news. It's refreshing to know they haven't been bought out by Disney and are more or less an eye-on-the-industry account.
I think it was only Yas Forums that figured it out. Maybe Tumblr, but they just parroted us so fuck 'em. Also, I think there's some records that show that Hirsch had planned for three seasons, but the stress of being a showrunner caused him to cut back his vision from three seasons to two seasons and a movie, and (here I'm speculating) two seasons with a multi-part finale.
I’m kind of curious as to how Disney will go about writing Hirch’s characters for him...if anything maybe pull some quotes from the show or just rewrite their personalities.
Nicholas Sanchez
Maybe they'll make Wendy actually interesting.
Jaxon Phillips
This really isn't the first time they have done this, is it? There was a 3ds game about this show and I doubt Alex wrote that. its a cartoon, merchandise is made from it. Not everything has to be canon.
Colton Richardson
According to , it'll involve the show writers, so they'd probably still be in character.
Who knows if the characterization will be better than Hirsch's?
Grayson Jones
ibtimes.com/ubisoft-disney-announce-gravity-falls-legend-gnome-gemulets-3ds-2004881 >Fans of the show will be happy to know that “Gravity Falls” creator Alex Hirsch will be involved in the making of the game and its story, so fans can expect the man’s razor sharp wit to show in the game as well as subtle hints toward the game’s bigger mystery. The game’s story is an original one and seems like a follow-up to the series’ first episode where Mabel and Dipper first met the gnomes of “Gravity Falls.”
I can't find anything more though; the Ubisoft blog archive only goes back to 2016.
He's not saying that the new book will involve the show writers, he's suggesting that it's an option. There's no actual announcement of who is writing yet.
Jacob Jenkins
If he would’ve stayed and continued the show he probably could have avoided this...
I thought he calmed down over the years but I really haven’t seen this side of him. Like I get that he joked with the fandom here and there but haven’t seen him deliberately be an asshole to anyone
This doesn’t mean I don’t believe this though.
Lucas Baker
The dude was writing a mystery into his show, he didn’t think that his fans weren’t going to figure it out? He should’ve just carried on with writing out the plot how he originally intended it without rushing regardless of the fandom predicting it..
Easton Jenkins
I checked a Let's Play with the end credits, and other than a "Special Thanks to the Gravity Falls Crew" shout-out, there's unfortunately no direct mention of Alex's role(s).
It all began when he started using Twitter too much.
John Morgan
Does Hirsch not understand how the industry works or is he just that conceited? "Created by" means nothing when the corporation who hired you owns what you create. This is not new information.
Ian Garcia
Fucking boot licking fags.
Jacob Scott
>You're bootlicking Hirsch Kek
Christian Lopez
>Pitch a show to a studio >Sign several documents where you acknowledge they have full ownership of the property >Bitch constantly about having to creatively butt heads with Disney >Want to scram after season 1, gets convinced to stay >Rush through a season 2 then run out like the building is on fire >Openly badmouth Disney and how much you had to butt heads with them on podcasts and charity streams >Do nothing for years >Come back with a Gravity Falls book because you regret not doing a season 3 >Do nothing >Get a Netflix deal that contractually locks you down from working with anyone else >Disney decides to make more Gravity Falls content >"WHAT THE FUCK DISNEY WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS IT'S NON-CANON GUYS, IT'S NON-CANON!!!!!"
Angel Wilson
Disney only ordered 2 seasons of the show when he pitched it for 3 that's not on Hirsch
Gavin Mitchell
>fucking pay me, I need to tip the people who drive me around!
Evan Rogers
I hope they get some of the good writers from GF to write this book.
Cameron Wood
>Non canon That's like saying NuStar Wars is noncanon cause George didn't work on them.
James Young
>I hope Disney is listening to the vocal fan backlash about making work without the creator!
Oh don't worry, that will alllll go away when a new GF book soars in sales regardless of Alex's input.
Adrian Carter
meh, didnt like gravity falls much after ''not what he seems.''
welcome to corporate america hirsh. lube your anus, its a wild ride.
Joseph Hall
It can be either that or it ends up like Nu-Star Wars
David Phillips
i want wendip. we cant have what we want.
Levi Mitchell
>Alex slowly starting to realize he's not some untouchable industry sweetheart that everyone loves and will always give him special permissions that no other showrunner gets cause he's so special
Michael Ramirez
That's not true at all. Hirsch consistently said he wanted 3 seasons and a movie, but around the time of Season 2's premiere, it was announced it would be the last season. Hirsch admitted after the fact that he was 'too exhausted' being a showrunner to continue and that Disney repeatedly asked him to continue for more seasons.
This is true though. If the original author isn’t involved, then it’s not canon. I can write a sequel to Hamlet, but that doesn’t make it canon to Shakespeare.
Carter Clark
mickey mouse is going to break his legs like they did with kermit's VA
Jeremiah Lewis
Wendip was always meant to be a one sided, unattainable crush. Anyone who genuinely believed it could happen is mentally ill
Grayson Torres
Now, I'm all for shitting on Disney, but you have to admit Hirsch doesn't have a leg to stand on and bitch like Disney is acting out of bounds and call a faggy campaign when he signed away his creation and moved on.
Brayden Gonzalez
It's canon if it's produced by the studio that owns the rights at the time. Shakespeare is public domain, which is why no one can claim a canon sequel to his works.
Mason James
That’s the point. Public Domain means EVERYONE owns it. They can sell copies of it and create new ones, but without the original author, it’s all fan fiction. Same if a company owns it.
Lincoln Bailey
>but without the original author, it’s all fan fiction. That's not how it works though. Otherwise, Star Wars Holiday Special is canon and Disney Star Wars is not.
Leo Miller
>Star Wars Holiday Special is canon and Disney Star Wars is not. Yes. What’s the problem here? That one is more popular than the other? Also, just because an author made it, doesn’t mean it needs to be canon. They can remove and add to canon at their own discretion.
Luke Baker
>Disney Star Wars is not canon They wish
Nathan Young
There's a nice professional attitude
Nolan Butler
How exactly did the company treat the employees under sugar?
Landon Reyes
I really wish the Labirynth could have seen the light of day once I saw those sketches...who knows maybe he could’ve worked something more profound into the concept.
Easton Scott
That and I want to know more of her backstory. I remember seeing posts on tumblr speculating about her mom, I think cipher might of hinted at her in one of the codes in the journal if I’m not mistaken..
Owen Cox
What was he like before then? How did it change him? Didn’t he come here with Manzi? Or maybe that was just Manzi
Colton Cooper
It was just Manzi, though if Alex did come here he didn't make it known whenever he was. I think the most public he made his visits known were either if/when he was hanging out with Justin Roiland and the McGucket hoax.
I miss Manzi. I mean, she's not dead, but still.
James Scott
Not that user, but I appreciated Wendip specifically for that reason. I think it’s just Bc I like watching characters crush over someone
Mason Allen
?? Which Kermit VA? Didn’t he go through several actors or has it been just one guy in the newer muppet material too? Give me the deets please
Carter Hernandez
Oh shit I forgot about the whole McGucket thing..it was interesting to watch to say the least
Kayden Myers
I just want more Ford bros Alex really fucked over his character by rushing the end of season 2
Grayson Rivera
Literally his only crime was going melodramatically "orange man bad". Apparently having different politics is enough to make Yas Forums eternally hate you
