People always put The Time Traveler's Pig on the list of times Dipper sacrificed for Mabel, but it's total bullshit. Letting Mabel have Waddles wasn't Dipper making a sacrifice for Mabel that should rightfully be reciprocated. Mabel getting Waddles and Dipper messing up with Wendy was the natural order of things. The scenario in which Mabel loses Waddles so Dipper can impress Wendy only comes after extensive time-space continuum fuckery. Mabel was willing to sacrifice Waddles so that Dipper could impress Wendy. Mabel was willing to allow herself to be deprived of a beloved pet and and suffer a broken heart so that Dipper could look cool in front of his crush. That's fucking selfless. Dipper deciding to let things happen as they should was not a sacrifice. It was him realizing that it would be really shitty and selfish for him to allow Mabel to make a sacrifice. Even more so when you consider that Wendy was never ever gonna date Dipper anyway.

That's the thing though: Dipper was expected to be a man, was treated like one, and grew into one, This in turn makes him an infinitely better character than his sister who started ended the series pretty much exactly as she started while her brother matured as character.

If Mabel was a selfless and mature person, she wouldn't have spent a entire month guilt tripping his brother. She was aware that he could still manipulate time and reverse things, which was the entire intention behind the guilt trip.

I hate how when Mabel starts bashing her head against the totem, Dipper literally says "It's not going to work, Mabel. Not this time", thus implying that this is not the first time that Mabel guilt trips him to get what she wants. She is a manipulative person

Doesn't make it better. Maybe it would've worked it it was only a week, but an entire month was just overkill. Hirsch missed the mark with this ep, just like he did in Weirdmageddon 2, but that's a different subject

Say what you want about SU, but at least that show did have some likeable and charming characters, to the point you actually feel compelled to analyse their psyche and morality.

Mabel's actions were far more unhealthy and questionable than Dipper tho.

They could've easily written it so that she goes back to her regular life, yet she's more bitter and less happy than before. That would've been far better and realistic....but apparently Hirsch thought it would be funnier to have Mabel become an tourist attraction instead

They were still more charming than the ones in this show. Heck, even Invader Zim had a more compelling cast of characters. I'd take Dib over Dipper anyday

Making it more realistic wouldn't have made it better. It was funnier. It was able to get the emotional point across while injecting some humor into it. And it's a more time and resource-efficient way of getting that emotional point across than showing Mabel going through life more bitter and happy.

Well, i didn't laugh. Soos appearing along those tourists and saying "Here is Miserable Mabel, a girl who went bonkers after her dreams were shattered by some heartless jerk" wasn't funny at all, and this is coming from someone who loves mean spirited humor when done right

The thing that bothers me about this show is that, knowing Mabel, she will ditch Dipper when they go back to school and she will just mock Dipper with her new friends. She made Dipper give up a bright future because she's needy, and then will just discard Dipper when she no longer needs him.

Why did Pacifica even accept Waddles after she wins him ? Seems kinda out of character for her to adopt a pig, especially after you see where she lives and what his family is like in Season 2

Being a selfish shithead WAS her character. Every episode that was centered around her showed how awful she was. It wasn't just Weirdmageddon, it was every time she was onscreen.
