X-treme was better.

Ditto

What if Goofy was abusive towards Max?

The fact that a single movie can generate continuous discussion 25 years later is a hallmark of how good it is. I can't believe that Disney didn't do more with the concept, it seems like after An Extremely Goofy Movie they just dropped the franchise and even then there was a huge gap between installments.

Nice b8 m8

There was a lot of executive drama, happening at Disney, a few years after and a lot of people got lost in the shuffle. The director of the film was one of them. The directors of My Little Mermaid and Treasure Planet were also forgotten about.

It's because it touched on a topic that had some real meat to it while also not taking sides and giving both central characters in the conflict flaws/making them wrong to some degree.
It's pretty damned good.

Alright Yas Forums this is it. Left or Right?

With Ducktales and Goofy Movie, Mickey's looks so boring compared to Donald and Goofy.

>My Little Mermaid

Roxanne is the perfect jailbait.

Mickey always was the weakest of the 3. Oswald is better, too

>Goof Troop was a smash hit
>Goofy Movie was a smash hit
>Extremely Goofy Movie still did great despite coming out 5 years after the first
>Disney does nothing with the franchise afterwards and practically buries it by the mid-2000s
>Didn't even order new Goof Troop episodes after its original 1992 run
Seriously, what the fuck were they thinking. That shit was insanely popular in the mid-late 90s.

That’s always been the case. Even Walt himself knew that.

I’m going straight. Miss me with that gay shit.

put it up on cytube

Did anyone manage to grab the Blu-Ray from whatever dumb fucking club shit it was selling exclusively from?

The Blossom wannabe was better.

Tito Faraci has been doing some really great shit with Mickey over in Italy.

I got a copy of it off ebay. Wasn't too expensive.

Not a fan of this film. It feels like people only hold it in high regard because of the 90s nostalgia, same goes to Space Jam. Neither film is very good imo, and i find myself agreeing with the negative reviews they got back in the day

The animation was really weak for 95 standards. I can see that Disneytoons was trying, but the linework and overall movement of the characters never comes to life like the Renaissance films do.

The worst part is that, after Twice Upon a Christmas in 2004, they pretty much pretended Max didn't exist until very recently, but now he's been pigeonholed as Disney's "nostalgia" character.

Don't suppose it's region free, is it?

Space Jam was a legitimately awful movie.
A Goofy Movie was a great coming of age story. Maybe didn't age that well, but it's not even comparable to Space Jam.

Yeah, it's definitely better, but still not great. Should've had a better script with funnier jokes and longer interactions, plus it also could've used a longer runtime. 70 mins is too short for a film with so many set pieces and musical numbers.

I don't have them on hand but I'm pretty sure they're region A.

Why don't you just get a Disney+ free trial? it's HD

This entire film is product of its time. Like, the thing that kickstarts the conflict only makes sense when you consider the gang hysteria of the 90s.

Isn't the blu ray censored?

obviously

I would guess as much

Because it's a HD stream, not BR of course. Comparing apples and oranges

Who cares? Why would you want physical media in 2020 anyway?

Why does Max say that Powerline is a rock star at the start of the film ? He was a pop singer

Digital media is a lie; it's not true ownership. It can go away whenever they want it to.

Man, this film is so dated that even the freaking poster has Max wearing that Devo suit and includes the word Cool in the tagline

Rock star used to be the catch-all term for someone really famous until rock and roll fell out of favor

Because Powerline fucked underage groupies like a real rock star.

There's a few differences from the DVD though I don't know when these changes were made; the BD might be unwittingly inheriting censorship from somewhere else.

Pic related; I fixed the aspect ration on the DVD caps to make the comparison look right.

That's Disney for ya.

No one would have cared about the original (most of them are just lazy animation or poor storyboarding). Making the changes just highlighted them for everyone.

????

I hate new feminist controlled Disney so much when they do things like this or edit out scenes from classic movies like Toy Story 2.

And that's why remote-access permission to a server somewhere is inferior to owning physical media. You never now what the next fashionable thing to destroy will be.

Indeed.

Oh lame.

Looking back, they really should've given Powerline some dialogue other than his songs. They should've shown what happened after the concert, instead of lazily skipping to Roxanne's house like nothing. Heck, they even forgot to show Max waving to Roxanne on stage like he promised

70-minute runtime is a bitch.

Man, how did i not notice this ?

There was no reason for such a small runtime, especially if you're doing a road trip film with musical numbers

>edit out scenes from classic movies like Toy Story 2.

I'm sure the length wasn't something the creatives had under their control.

It was. Better script, humor and pacing

These all seem so minor, yet I'm so angered by it

Aside from the bottom these are all caused by badly thought out framing/storyboarding.

Animators forced to stick on model but also requied to animate a quick ballroom dance with someone twice his size with her legs blocking him from reaching over and the logistics of someone with a huge snout lifting a girl closely.

Agreed. I've been collecting movies, and shows for decades now. I have so much content that I don't even have to bother with services like netflix or Disney plus.

Other than Toy Story, was there even another geniunely great animated film in 1995 ? I know Whisper of the Heart and Ghost in the Shell came out that year, but those are a different thing.

You may not have noticed, but your brain did, and that was their main objective.

>they think people like Rey

I grew up with Extremely on VHS and for the longest time I didn't know the first movie existed. I've sat down and watched both and the first one is definitely better. Extremely's got a nice soundtrack but no original songs while Goofy Movie's got three iconic ones. All the musical moments in the first movie moved the plot forward but the ones in Extremely really just felt like padding out the run time.

And as much as I love early 2000s extreme sports stuff, Extremely feels like it relied a lot more on its time period than the first movie did. It's a cool time capsule but compared to the other movie it feels like it's riding on the coattails of the time period's cultural zeitgeist instead of being totally immersed in it.

Uncensored MEGA?

What was censored?

See &

Bad assessment. The way Roxanne floats into Max's arms, continues moving forward until she contacts his nose and THEN he is pushed back has intuitive physics. It's also a very small touch of sexuality in a dream a teenage boy is having about a girl he likes. Appropriate. Keeping his nose out of her chest removes that and hurts the slow-motion, dreamlike atmosphere of this shot in a dream sequence.

Max dancing with the secretary is a joke about her fat figure; her breasts are so huge and saggy they obscure her waist so Max inadvertently puts his hand on her breasts in his excitement. In the altered version the secretary's bow was re-drawn the wrong shape and in one frame Max's left arm simply disappears. That's what's lazy.

These are not "fixes".

Reminder that even Shark Tale has a better and funnier script than this film. It's also a better film in general, with a proper budget and runtime

Reminder that you're nothing but a housenigger, Will.
